I cant believe some of the reviews below. Yes the staff are friendly but the facilities are very poor. The staff directed us to take the steps down to the seafront. The steps were "decorated" with dog poo, plastic bags, old mattresses, and various other items thrown on the steps and the area surrounding them. The area around the hotel is very much in need of regeneration and there are boarded up houses and decaying properties. I wouldnt want to walk there after dark!! The hotel itself smelt really bad, our room was barely clean and the bed linen looked second hand. there was one towel per person, but clean and fluffy. The en suite was old and hot water minimal. The toilet, we were informed as the staff member left our room, was not working too well. Indeed it was very diffcult to flush. very embarrasing. The sheets were of the fitted kind but didnt fit and so i awoke to find that the sheet was off the bed and i was sleeping on the plastic undersheet. We were unable to shower as the water ran hot and cold. I cant believe that we stayed in the same hotel as some of the other reviews? Dirty, smelly, and poor facilities.

Room Tip: i wouldnt recommend any room in this "hotel"

My partner and I stayed here for one night and felt it was great value for money. Great view, could see the sea from room 5 and the bed was very clean and comfortable. Was quite dusty and bathroom was dated and the only problem we had was there were no shower gel, shampoo amenities etc and shower was freezing. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful though and were very warm and welcoming. It's a 3 min walk to sea front and we went to this great little restaurant called Azur, highly recommended. Overall, great experience for the money we payed, breakfast was lovely and we would stay again.

Lovely comfortable beds, great breakfast, well situated, with about a ten minute walk to the beach, very friendly and helpful owner, Autumn. Will be wonderful when they complete the renovation. Queen Victoria used this as a holiday home so we were told!! Would happily go again. Thanks!!

Room Tip: We had room 4 and it was lovely.

My wife and I often visit Hastings and recently spent three nights at the Highlands Inn, in St Leonards on sea. The welcome and hospitality could not be faulted and the full cooked English breakfast was well worth having.

The building is old and full of character, with its own private onsite parking. Yes, there was more dust in our room than we would normally expect but but the room was large, bright and airy. Considering the hotel has only just recently been relaunched and a lot of refurbishing is going on, I think a little extra dust is only to be expected.

The positives far outway the small negatives and we would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I live in mitcham south london and frequently visit hastings, this time round a few of my friends and myself stayed at the highlands inn which we found very comfy , nice clean rooms and comfy beds and a good hearty breakfast, a good week had by all, and i personally will staying in the near future.

Hasting town centre is very historical, so if you like history thats the place to go.

We stayed for one night after a visit to the Carr Taylor Vineyard. The hotel itself isn't bad, not too far from the beach but not much else to do in the vicinity and the area is in need of regeneration. The room itself was acceptable for the price but the bathroom was in need of updating. The staff were lovely and the breakfast good. Not sure if we would stay again but not bad for the price

I recently spent two nights at the Highlands Inn in St Leonards on sea. I was very impressed with the building itself and by the fact it had it's own private parking. The room was bright, clean and airy and we enjoyed a full cooked English breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Considering this hotel has only recently been refurbished and relaunched they are doing an excellent job. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
