Description: Voted 'Best Restaurant' in the Brighton Foodie Awards 2012Good food Guide 2013Food for Friends restaurant in Brighton has been in the vanguard of vegetarian cuisine for more than twenty five years. Set in The Lanes, Brighton’s most happening district, Food for Friends has slowly spread over three shop fronts, developing a labyrinth of brightly lit, modern dining rooms kitted out with stylish minimalism, some overlooking the bustling lanes outside. Cuisine from around the globe is created using predominantly local, organic ingredients, some delivered by bike. Vegans and those with food allergies and intolerances are well cared for here. Wines are organic and mainly vegan, coffee is fairtrade, and an irresistible afternoon tea is served.

“Genius Menu”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

People can sometimes be put off by a no meat menu but as meat eaters, we were curious and thought, why not?! We were most certainly not disappointed - the food was absolutely stunning! We had the coconut curry and the halloumi burger, both of which were filling and mixed with interesting combinations of tastes. Service was great and I had a cocktail (French martini) which was also beautiful. The menu is very different to any other restaurant in Brighton and this makes for an interesting experience. I would highly recommend this place if you have not been before.... I think it would quickly become a new favourite!

“Amazing food!”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

I was staying in Brighton with my boyfriend for only one night and we didn't book a place to have dinner. We were walking past Food for Friends and decided to have a go specially because they cook vegetarian food. There was a 45min waiting time so we sat outside and had some drinks. 20 minutes later the waitress ( who was super friendly ) took us to our table. Our food was absolutely amazing! We didn't expect to have such a lovely meal. We will definitely recommend this place to friends and family and come back when we are in Brighton again. :)

“Yet another faultless meal at FfF”
Reviewed July 31, 2014

Pre-graduation ceremony lunch for our vegan daughter and - yet again - FfF gave us a faultless meal that even us carnivores enjoyed. They manage to blend together all of their ingredients to produce good-looking and well-flavoured dishes all the time. None of us have found anything we didn't enjoy in (now) three visits. I made a mistake with the "Sussex champagne cider" in ordering "a bottle" when the price was [quite clearly!] per glass, but I didn't regret it, as the cider was wonderful (and I didn't have to drive again until many hours later - nine it turned out!).
Well done Food for Friends for providing the perfect aperitif to a splendid graduation ceremony.

“Excellent as ever”
Reviewed July 31, 2014

We have been eating here for 30 years since it first opened and we have never had a bad meal and the service has always been excellent.
Food is always diverse, imaginative, well presented and really good combination of flavours.
I await the second cookery book with anticipation.

“Never disappointing”
Reviewed July 31, 2014

There are only a few restaurants I will go eat at in Brighton as I'm vegan and a lot of restaurants don't give you the vegan option or have food that tastes healthy and organic. Food for friends never disappoints! They always have a range of healthy options to choose from and the service is always excellent. Every meal on the menu is fresh and different and satisfying. Always a returning customer, thankyou :)
