“Overrated; mediocre waste of time and money.!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Went for lunch for first time there, place was empty, ominous for a start, staff inattentive, ordered from a mediocre menu that looked like a fast food italian joint one of amny in Brighton and was very surprised;or meals were worse than mediocre past dishes, one a spaghetti and the other so poor have forgotten what we ordered ! it was so inedible; we cpmplained to the waiter who was not interested.
We refused to pay the bill except for the drinks and left very disgruntled. never again.!Its a shame as they spend a lot of money on advertising and visitors to Brighton, I feel are ripped off. There are much better in the area.

We have a very varied menu which can be found online at our website. It offers over 21 varieties of Pizza, 37 varieties of Pasta, 12 separate meat dishes and 4 dedicated fish dishes with even more choice from our Anti Pasti menu. We are willing to combine any of our pasta dishes with any of our sauces which would give a potential menu for hundreds of varied meals. We also offer 19 varied deserts and ice creams.

The vast majority of which are available from our set menu's starting at an exceptional £7.25 per person. We like to think we offer a brilliantly diverse and interesting menu for exceptional value, and our repeat customers agree!

We are sorry on this occasion you felt the need to raise a complaint and are glad that our staff dealt with your complaint to your satisfaction, this demonstrates that the best forum for any complaints is on the day to our house managers. We do hope you will try us again soon.

“Great value & great food”

We had a lovely romantic meal here sat outside in the Laines. The food was excellent & it's worth saving some room for the amazing ice-creams for after.

Thank you so much for your kind words, and yes sitting on our lovely terrace with a loved one watching the world go by, is often very special indeed. Of course leaving room for Ice Cream is always a good plan.

“Good food not very attentive staff!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here as a lot of places seem to be shutting up around 10pm. We were sat on a table that had just been cleared quickly and given a quick wipe over.
We ordered our food with a waiter and did not have to wait long for our food. As the waitress was bringing it over I heard her drop a plate and it smashed then I saw a waiter with two halves of a baguette in his hands. We got our two pizzas and fries but not to garlic bread! After about half way through our meal the garlic bread was brought up. Two halves of a baguette. So it was our bread they dropped but no one informed us they just made more and brought it out. It would have been nice to be informed when it had happened.
When we finished our plates were cleared and that was it. No one came over to us again. We sat there for at least 20 minutes and no one asked if we would like any desserts (I really did but didn't on principle) or if we would like the bill. So I asked for the bill and the waiter disappeared upstairs for 10 minutes then we got the bill. The waiter then lingered around us while we sorted out our money.
The food was delicious and very fresh but based on the service I would not return here.

We are busy a bustling restaurant that caters for upwards of 400 covers in an evening, and sometimes during the hustle and bustle plates get dropped. Of course we would then make you fresh food, on this occasion you should have been informed of a delay in your garlic bread order.

We have talked to all the staff about your experience and are assured this was a rare event. Please do come back and try us again, as you know our food is delicious!

“Disappointing....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

The staff were really accommodating as there were six of us and we asked to be moved from upstairs to a cooler location, in general the service was good. We ordered mains accompanied by rose and red wine - food and wine were tasty however my fellow diner found a hair in her food and neither the waitress nor the manager could open the Chianti without the cork splitting - 3rd bottle they finally got it. We promptly paid (one main dish not charged for), no coffee and left. I'm sure that this is not usual as the restaurant was full and catered for all types of diners but it's put us off and we would not return.

During summer we tend to open the front of the restaurant and as a result there is a breeze that runs through our dining areas. We can only think that any hair that was on your plate may have blown on there during the trip from kitchen to table, we note you were not charged for this.

Of course we would never serve a bottle of wine that was corked or had piece of cork in it, which is why we kept trying till we got you the perfect bottle. We hope you will come back soon and not let this one experience put you off Donatello!

“A tasty cheap eat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

Was told about this place by a local, so if a local recommends it, it must be good!

We had the set menu which was pretty good value, especially for a place like Brighton. All items very tasty and filling - just as a good Italian should be. Will go back again.
