“Top notch”

Ate here this evening, excellent service, great ambience and first class food. Scallops were perfectly cooked to melt in the mouth, and lamb was exquisite. If only more restaurants were of this standard.

“Hidden gem in Brighton”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Booked the Gingerman after reading Matthew Norman's review in the Daily Telegraph. From the amuse bouche to the Coffee, we enjoyed it all. My wife and I both chose the truffle risotto, beautifully cooked, slightly al dente but oozingly moist.
Fillet of beef with Tempura snails was excellent as was the slow cooked lamb. Mixed berry soufflé was fantastic.
A good wine list provided us with a very drinkable Rioja.
Service was really friendly and efficient, we shall return soon.

“Midweek visit”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Knowing this to be busy at weekends we phoned for a midweek booking. We neednt have booked as was not to busy but was busy enough to know that you were in an exceptional resteraunt. The decor is basic but clean, the service was brilliant. (i cant stand places that feel they need reassuring every course that their food is up to standard, believe me i will say if its not) and then there is the food. If you have not eaten here then you need to and its very reasonably priced. £60 bought us 2 starters, 2 mains (1 was veggie), bottle of wine, glass of wine and a pint of ale. I was expecting it to be much higher.
I look forward to trying the other Gingers as im lead to believe each is different but all at a high standard.

“You won't want to dine anywhere else in Brighton....”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Our first night of a long weekend in Brighton, and my prior research on TripAdvisor led us to Gingerman. It was freezing outside, but the warmth of the greeting we received, as well as the ambient temperature in the restaurant, soon filled us with a glow.
As soon as we were seated, a nice bowl of olives was served, and the menu and wine list were handed out. We were not rushed to place our order, and as we dined early, it wasn't too long to wait before the amuse bouche was served, accompanied by a small loaf of crusty bread and bread knife. It tickled the taste buds nicely and prepared us for what was to follow.
I won't comment individually about the dishes, other than to say that we savoured every mouthful. The cooking and preparation is of a very high standard, and the dishes really don't need any additional seasoning. The wine list contains something for everyone's taste.
By the time we had reached our dessert course, every table was taken.
The front of house staff were friendly, efficient and polite. This place is a real find. We'll be back, for sure.
