Stayed two nights in a double room on the first floor.
Room clean and well maintained. Two electric heaters kept it warm and comfortable during both day and night. Very friendly staff, good food and several pubs a short drive away for meals and good atmosphere. £25 a night excellent value as it includes continental breakfast. Full cooked breakfast only £3.99 extra. Bargain. Will visit again and would highly recommend you visit.

Stayed here for our visit to Brighton for the football. Park & ride to and from the ground is a short walk (less than 10 minutes) from the hotel. We ate in the restaurant and it was no better no worse than other Harvesters. The rooms were ok - nothing special but clean and big enough. Bit disappointed that the bar closed at exactly 11pm each night. You can catch a bus into Brighton centre from Patcham village and if you buy a day-rover (obtainable from the supermarket in the centre) you can get about quite easily and cheaply. It's easy to find - located on the main road into Brighton. Did the job for us.

After having read some of the reviews on here i was not sure what i was going to experience. However all was well, the room was fine, the food in the restaurant was very good indeed, with lots of friendly and helpfull staff. We went for the innkeepers lodge weekend deal which is very good value considering Brighton's accomodation prices. One word of advice, leave your car in the carpark and take advantage of the excellent Brighton bus service. We certainly will be back at the Black Lion soon!!!

We popped in to the Black Lion for a meal after going swimming on Saturday (6pm). We were quickly taken to our table which was situated next to a large window. Our only complaint would be take it felt cold next to the window and the light was very dim.
The restaurant and toilets were clean and staff were going around sweeping, wiping up and quickly clearing the tables. Everything looked nicely decorated and in a good state of repair.
Gr8 meals which included free salad and warm rolls.
Staff were friendly and helpful, but not in your face.
The 3 of us eat for £30 including 1 drink each.
We will be back for more!

We stayed here for 1 night, before going to the Veteran Car Club rally, and having read other reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. We had a twin bedded room, which was perfectly adequate for what we wanted. Although the decor was rather old and tired looking, the beds were really comfortable, and we had a good night's sleep. There were tea and coffee making facilities, and continental breakfast was included in the price, making it better value than we've had at Travelodges before. It was very convenient to get into Brighton. We ate in the Harvester next door, and had a very good meal. We'd stay here again if we were in the Brighton area.
