“Basic but no frills.”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

This accommodation is in quite a good location between the pier and the marina, not far from the sea front. Room was small, a little over crowded with furniture but was tasteful and clean. The owners were very helpful and cheerful. Cooked breakfast was nicely cooked. There are no frills here, it's just basic bed and breakfast. I personally felt it was a bit dearer than it should have been.

I stayed here over the May/June bank holiday weekend with a group of friends
We received a very warm welcome and the landlady was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the weekend (despite me waking them up at 4am due to being locked out!)
The breakfast was very good - selection of yogurts, cereals and juice, with a good full english and other things on the menu such as smoked salmon and scramled eggs.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a good hospitality tray. My only criticism was the quality of the shower in our room which was on the top floor - the water was just a tiny trickle. This wasn't an issue for us as our group of friends had 5 of the rooms in the hotel so we used their showers - all of which were fine.
In summary a friendly, clean and comfortable reasonably priced B&B in a great location - would definately recommend.

Agree with previous comments that the owners were very welcoming and attentive. Unfortunately that is where the similarities end.

We were on the fifth floor. The shower was no more than a dribble and the noise from the busy street was intrusive (no double glazing). So no chance of a good nights sleep. Breakfast was also a disappointment with the inclusion of 'cheap' sausages.

Afraid I would not be able to recommend this B&B.

We planned to have a weekend away in Brighton and Ablecliff B&B was recommended by a friend, when we arrived The owners could not have made us more welcome. We stayed in the basement suite, The suite was well appointed and decorated to a very high standard.
I absolutley loved the basement suite, and had a good nights sleep, in fact better than I have for ages. dont be put off by staying in basement, it was amazing.
So its a big thumbs up from Karen & Bruce.

What a lovely B&B, ticks all the boxes. I am sure I will be visiting again and again!! The room was pleasant, airy, clean and had a very comfy bed. The shower was powerful and refreshing. Wonderful breakfasts, cooked to order with plenty of choice and a self service buffet. Lovely staff, thank you.

We always struggle to find accommodation to suit a family with two children aged 7 and 4. I phoned Amblecliff on the off chance they had a room or could name a B&B with a suitable room. They offered us a suite. It had a large double bed, lovely wooden floors and a sitting room with two stylish single put me up beds (normally this side room could be a sitting room). A very nice sized bathroom with separate bath and shower. The room was immaculate and suited our needs as we had a bit of privacy but the children were within our living space and so were safe. Also as we were downstairs we felt that the children wouldn't annoy other guests. There was a door at the end of the corridor in our suite where you could sit with a glass of wine on a sunny day. Terry was very welcoming and she was lovely to the children. The breakfast was wonderful. The family suite was spot on, I can't recommend it highly enough, if you are a family with young children you will enjoy this place.

Room Tip: Phone and speak to Terry, or ask for the downstairs suite.
