I've stayed in many places in Brighton but never felt as welcome as I did at Amherst. Mark and Lee were superb providing a smooth check-in, excellent local knowledge when it came to a place to eat and a wonderful full english the next day! Such a friendly environment, tasteful decor, absolutely spotless and excellent central location - 30 seconds from the beach and in the lively area of Kemp Town. My friend and I were made to feel so welcome. I will definitely be using Amherst again. We stayed in Room 10 on the top floor, amazing views and very peaceful.

Room Tip: We had room 10 which, albeit was on the top floor, had lovely views and a great shower! I would defi...

Needed a break and always enjoy time in Brighton, usually stay in hotels but tried a guest house this time, went with my husband for 3 nights. Had a free upgrade to a charming room. Lee and Marcus couldn't have been more helpful, lovely guys, will def go back and thoroughly recommend.

We spent one night at the Amherst celebrating our wedding anniversary. Wonderful warm & friendly welcome from Lee & Marcus. My husband had arranged with them previously to place a bouquet in the room, it was beautiful & their choices were spot on. Room 5 was spacious & light, tastefully furnished & very clean - a nice side view of the sea. Very welcome little touches with complimentary water in the fridge, plenty of tea, coffee and milk cartons, plus biscuits and 2 packets of crisps (perfect for the late night munchies) & the mini bar was reasonable priced should you want to use it. There were thoughtful touches in the bathroom cabinet too with basic personal provisions you may have forgotten. Had a wonderful meal at The TownHouse Restaurant (accompanied by live music), just a few minutes walk away. We parked with no problem on the street nearby using the £10 parking voucher supplied by the hotel - this may be different at the weekend. The continental breakfast was perfect with well presented freshly prepared produce. Would definately go back - a great position made all the better with such friendly people running it. Well done Marcus & Lee

We booked our 2 night stay after searching online for somewhere affordable and well-located that was likely to be fairly quiet.
Amherst had a professional website which was really informative and the Kemp Town location right next to the sea was attractive.
From the moment we arrived, to the moment we checked out, Marcus and Lee were the perfect hosts.
The room (a junior suite) was lovely, clean and comfortable and we slept really well.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely little hotel to anyone wanting to have a relaxing stay in Brighton and will be back soon.

Had two nights at the Amherst, wished it had been more. Marcus and Lucas are so good at making you feel very welcome and they have thought of everything to make your stay home from home. Lovely linen and great bed. Nice touch with the free snacks and crisps plus water. Tea and coffee always covered as well. Our room had a great seaview. Breakfast was lovely and you was asked if you wanted more of anything.

Only a few mins walk from the middle of Brighton and all the sites so we will be back. Could not fault it. Well done to you both.
