Second time we've eaten at Smokeys and we all agreed sadly nowhere near as good as the first time. Portions for a start seemed to be a lot smaller and service was ok but could and should have been a lot better - i had pulled pork quesadilla starter which was very nice but not much filling, ribs & bbq chicken combo as main that was ok but chicken smelt a bit funny which put me off. Would recommend to visit as offers something different but we won't be going again for a while...

“Veggie friendly”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Popped in here for the large selection of veggie food, went for the Full English Veggie, they put a lot more effort into the selection for the veggie than anywhere else locally. Service was friendly and quick, outside terrace overlooking the sea was nice, the couple chain smoking next to me wasn't but sadly not a lot I could have done about that other than move inside, smoking WHILST eating though?? Sorry, rant over smokers, my choice to stay outside. Nice place to eat, very reasonable and friendly staff, most enjoyable.

“Things to avoid”

Pork ribs are underdone and in my opinion and those of 3 others pose a risk to health. The atmosphere was good but very hot no air con.

“A very good place in Brighton”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Brighton is all about fish & ships, but Smokeys offers something different. The food is good, the service is better. Everything is served with a smile, and this my friends, is priceless. I definitely recommend it, especially if you're not much of a fish fan.

“AVOID!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Went on a weeknight, it was busy but not packed. The service was good and the staff polite, and having read the good reviews on here we ordered a lot of food, not cheap either. Sadly it was absolutely awful! By far the worst food I have eaten in Brighton. The it was luke warm and looked and tasted like it had been sitting out and reheated when we ordered. The meat was defiantly unsmoked, tough, gristly and nothing like real bbq. The vegetable option was just appalling, and after eating just a little made us feel ill. Can't explain the excellent reviews, as I would be shocked if food this bad was just an 'off night' and the staff had no explanation for the terrible quality. I seriously recommend you avoid smokeys like the plague.
