This was our second visit and the tea, cakes and ambiance were just lovely. The only quibble was the restroom. It's also the store-room for staff coats and bags, which isn't very safe, though I'm sure most of the customers are honest; and for aprons, which isn't ideal. But overall, a lovely place to visit.

Not sure why there has been so many indifferent reviews. We went there twice this weekend and it was super. Carrot cake deliciously moist and lots of it and the house tea was very good. It is and does what it says on the tin. Good to have a change from the corporate coffee houses that have taken over the high street.

I wish I had read the other reviews before going here. As definately agree with Nicky0309 comments. We were also lured in by the appearance of the place and the staff are nicely dressed in traditional black with little white aprons and caps just like they used to. The staff were very friendly but things could have been cleaner and after ordering two banana splits, receiving one which was awful, no taste to it at all and the presentation was awful. After a 1/2 hour wait a a couple of apologies as the ice cream machine had broken down we left very dissappointed.

As mentioned in the title, the shop is fitted out beautifully and really does a great job of luring you in. That's the positives out of the way so we can move on to the things they should be focusing on doing well. The coffee was awful, lemon drizzle cake dry and fairly tasteless and the orange came in a carton...with a glass! Best of all, these three items cost over £8 - prices even the greatest of the high street rip-off merchants wouldn't dare charge. The staff were polite but not especially friendly or welcoming. There are so many better options in the area.
