“A fascinating visit”

A very interesting museum. There is almost too much to see and we would recommend taking your time and going around the museum at least twice. Also take advantage of the seats to look at the lower shelf displays as there are loads of things tucked away. We also enjoyed the coin games (and won our money back on more than one occasion). The gift shop is fairly small but there are some rather good donated toys to buy which help pay for the upkeep of the museum. The staff are also very knowledgable and happy to chat about the exhibits. A good visit.

Took my 5 yo boy here...was expensive for what you got and there is very little assistance from the staff. The toys are amusing in a way for older peeps, but I wouldn't have gone there without my kid. Would I take my kid back?..maybe in another 5 years when he might understand.

Hey Mark.
Thanks for your review and we're sorry you and your son weren't able to enjoy the museum as much as we hope all our visitors do.
All our front of house staff are volunteers who give up their time to keep the museum open. If you're ever visiting again, you just have to ask someone for help. They can talk to you about the toys or the museum itself or give your little ones an activity pack which helps you get the most out of the exhibit. Old toys behind glass aren't a big draw for the very young but older kids and adults find that our exhibits are really interesting. We'd love it if we were able to have some of our toys out for kids to play with but unfortunately that's not possible.

“A credit to a dedicated collector”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

Visited on our last trip to Brighton. The collection of toys and models from the last 100+ years is fabulous.. and a testament to the founder Christopher Littledale and to those who have contributed to the collection and who volunteer to help sustain the collection and provide the supporting services to those who wish to experience it first hand. If you are in Brighton and have the chance to take a trip down memory lane and beyond you should visit and support those who are preserving a piece of our history

“Oh yes ... nostalgia at its best!”

Now then, I wonder who enjoys a visit here the most ... I have feeling probably the grandparents!

This is a marvellous museum with thousand of exhibits that will have you reliving all the joys of your childhood.

The railway layouts are a feast for the eyes ... so too the vast array of Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox vehicles of every description. The dolls, the puppets and the old penny machines will have on Cloud One and you even get a chance to buy an item or two on your way out. Mind you, that could be an hour or two later for there's just so much to see and enjoy that you won't be in any hurry to make for the exit.

Wonderful in every respect and so easy to reach right underneath Brighton Railway Station.
