We came here at about 8.40 on Saturday night after having a day of wandering round Brighton and needing something to eat. We hadn't booked so asked at the bar if they were still serving food. The guy said they were so we sat down and ordered a round of drinks. After getting halfway through our drinks and selecting our food the same guy came over and said actually we are stopping food now sorry and that was that. Well we felt a bit cheated as had we been told that we wouldn't have ordered drinks as we wanted somewhere that was still serving food. One of our party complained and said that we would like a refund for the drinks as we would not be staying and they should have told us when we checked if they were not serving food. He said he would go and get the manager. After 5 minutes he came back to say actually they will serve us the food! Not a great start.
That said- the food was nice and reasonably priced. Had we not had the incident at the start this would have scored more than 3 stars. T

After stopping here for a quick drink around lunchtime we noticed the food board outside and the slow roasted belly pork caught our eye and when it came to dinner time we decided to head back there. We ordered two starters the crab cakes and the prawns with chorizo, the crab cakes we small the majority of this starter was salade, it was meant to be served with lime, chilli and coriander but instead it came with seafood sauce, when I questioned it the waitress said 'oh must be out'. The prawns and chorizo had to be sent back as the three prawns that were in the starter were still raw!! The sauce was meant to be tomato, chilli and rosemary but unfortunately it was just tinned chopped tomatoes, neither myself nor my partner could see or taste the chilli and rosemary. For mains we had the pork belly which was cooked ok, it only came with spring onion mash which was dry and with a creamy mustard sauce which was a jug of cream with mustard seeds floating in it. At the end of the meal the manager came over to offer us a free drink but we were leaving and had a two hour drive so did not want any more alcohol, she did also offer us a free pudding but we did not want to eat anything else in that place. The place seemed to have reasonable atmosphere even though the ladies were dusty all along the pipes and skirtings and had not been checked by staff between the time we went in at lunchtime for a drink and the evening for dinner as the same bits of rubbish were still on the floor in the ladies. One of the Do Drop Inn chain, my advice Don't Drop Inn!!
