“Nice food but the long table wait was offputting”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

I've been a couple of times to La Choza - I'd say the second visit was far better than the first in that we didn't have to hang around and wait for a table. On my first visit, we waited nigh on two hours to be seated and by that point we were starving. I think the food is good... not worth the two hour wait mind so I'd only ever go back if there was no queue to get in.

“Great experience”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Have been 3 times now, and everyone I take loves this place. The food is faultless and incredibly tasty. I love the fact its so cosy inside in fact everything about this place - the atmosphere, the strange system of waiting for a phone call when its busy, the decor and staff all make this quite a unique place especially compared to other Brighton eateries.

I walk past every night from work and it takes an incredible amount of will power not to go in everytime.

“Not for me :o(”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Food was ok, nothing special (from a vegetarian point of view). Staff (one in particular!) rude & very off-ish! Get with it, this place is nothing fancy!! Won't go back, thankfully plenty of choice elsewhere in Brighton. Would rather save my pennies & go to London for Wahaca.

“Fantastic. Just fantastic!!!!”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Upon visiting La Choza for the second time I did worry if it would be as good as the first, but it was better!

We arrived early to book a table, were informed of a waiting time, and went around the corner for a drink while waiting as planned. Right on time we received a call to let us know the table was available, and we were greeted once again by friendly and helpful staff.

Once in, the evening kept getting. Samples of the different strengths of sauces were offered, delicious margaritas and starters were served in very reasonable times, and the waitress was very enthusiastic and informative. The selection of mains on top of this was just delicious. Portion sizes were more than enough for some, especially for the price, and everyone left satisfied with a delicious taste lingering. Authentic and fresh Mexican dishes that you just can’t find elsewhere in Brighton! Highly recommended - the queues are there for a reason!

On top of all of this, it was the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations, therefore performers were providing live music and all the staff had fantastic costumes/make-up on creating such a fun and lively atmosphere, with some customers (cough…us) even joining in with some of the songs!!

Needless to say we didn't want to leave and will be returning very soon.

“never again”

had to wait 3 hours for a table, the staff could have been kinder considering our patience
but were quite the contrary. The food was not worth the wait, but if you like it hot then give it a go.
