Description: Our inspiration for the food and design of Cote is a modern interpretation of the many famous bistros of Paris. Inspired by new trends, we are dedicated to serving authentic classic brasserie dishes with a modern twist, using high quality produce at great prices. On the menu, guests will always find brasserie favourites on our a la carte menu such as steak frites, moules marinieres, corn-fed chicken from rural Brittany and tuna Nicoise, for dessert, Cote's creme caramel and creme brulee are much-loved house specialities. Seasonality and Cote's commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients results in a monthly changing specials menu, ensuring there is always something new to delight regular guests and gastronomes alike, as well as the excellent value set menu. Open early every day for breakfast, through to lunch and dinner; Cote's atmosphere is informal and friendly.

“Specials........”

We have visited on a number occasions, often taking advantage of the two course menu at less then £10 per head. Always good quality food, nice atmosphere and very attentive staff. On the last occasion, my beautiful girlfriend had sole from the specials menu and it was simply the best fish dish ever! Compliments to the chef and staff. Can highly recommend the restaurant and it is always a pleasure to return. My one small gripe is that they add an optional service charge to the bill. If the service is good is should be rewarded at the discretion of the customer and to the actual person(s) whom provided the service.....on which note we especially like to highlighted Donna who looked after us on our last visit (21/10/12).

“Lovely room, charming staff”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

A great location in a lovely large room that always reminds me of an old-style European cafe bistro, and directly opposite the Pavilion and Dome on the edge of North Laine.

Staff are charming attentive and welcoming; I have eaten here a dozen times in the last year and find service is very consistent.

Food and wine is the same as in any Cote restaurant and I always find it very good quality and reasonable value for money.

I prefer this to the branch in Wardour Street in London which I find pokey and dimly lit.

“Consistently excellent......”

Took our daughter to Cote Friday evening which started a great weekend. Every time we visit we're greeted like old friends and this occasion was no different. It was buzzing with a happy atmosphere that evening, and was pretty packed. We had a circular table near the window, started off with Kir Royales and toasted each other happily. Daughter was very impressed with the building I may say, and after we had shared mussels and fougasse to start, salmon fishcakes, two steak frites, and two divine creme caramels washed down with some lovely rose wine she was even more impressed! We had superb friendly service from start to finish and a very good time was had by all! The fixed price menu from 12pm to 7pm is such good value; we don't know of anywhere else in Brighton where you can have such good quality, beautifully cooked food for such a reasonable price. Well done Cote, see you again soon!

“Exactly what you want for a quick tasty meal in the centre of Brighton”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

My wife and I visit Cote frequently for a Sunday lunch before attending the afternoon concerts in the Dome which is bang opposite.
Surprisingly this place really does come very close to a Paris brasserie. The decor and fittings are partly driven by the building's previous existence as a library and are what you might term Art Nouveau /Deco in feel. It's very spacious and tall with much use of black and gold and a lovely small area of encaustic black and white tiled floor in the foyer. When it's full, this place is humming with gregarious urban chatter, so not ideal for a quiet romantic dinner.
The service is usually provided by itinerant students and others from the far flung corners of Europe and in our experience they all exude, warmth charm and professionalism so they are obviously well trained in customer care. Despite the number of customers on a busy Sunday - 200 plus?, they managed to produce our dishes in a very short time. As a starter I had deep fried calamari rings, my wife had pissalerie with Reblechon both excellent, and for mains we both had steak frites which though admittedly modest in size was beautifully cooked and perfectly tasty. We shared a really nice Tarte Fine as a dessert. With coffee, a good bottle of Syrah, a naughty glass of Monbazillac desert wine, and suggested 12.5 % service the whole bill came to £70.59 but you can have the Sunday special lunch here for £9.95. Good value I think.
There are many Cote restaurants and we sometimes visit the one in Horsham which is also pretty good. This one in Brighton has the right pulse. It's animated, stylish, caters for all types of clientele with equal efficiency and is good value.

“Superb service and Great value”

It's not often that you get a chain restaurant that feels like an independant restaurant, but Cote Brasserie is a little gem. This was my first time at the Brighton Cote, but their other restaurants are equally excellent. Would whole-heartedly recommend !!!
