In addition to our traditional tea and cakes we also have a wide selection great breakfast and lunch dishes (see website for menu). Best Eggs Benedict i've ever had, wife loved the cake. We were on the first floor and had plenty room. Decor is lovely and very in keeping with the theme. The staff now using the a handheld PDA to take orders is quite novel and different. Would highly recommend.

“What a delight”

First time visit, but we'll be back. Our family is in Shoreham and we live in the US. When we visit we are always looking for places we like, and it's nice to go somewhere new and be thoroughly pleased. We tried the Amman tea and I had the English muffin with ham and cheddar and my husband had the Eggs Royale, an eggs Benedict with smoed salmon instead of ham. The Passion cake was marvelous. And a nice stroll in the Lanes for a little shopping was a great way to help our food digest. Can't wait for the next family visit so we can have brunch at the Blackbird Tea Room.

“Lovely treat and cant wait to go back and experience more!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

I went here for some afternoon tea and cake on my Birthday and I loved everything about this quirky place. Lovely atmosphere and lots of vintage touches and decorations (especially in the outdoor loo)! We had a huge pot of tea between us and massive slices of cake which were very yummy! We were also pleasantly surprised by the price, especially in comparison to Brighton coffee shops which are generally quite pricey. I will be going back here soon to share afternoon tea with some visiting friends!

“Can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

I have had the most wonderful and unqiue experience. My daughter has taken me for afternoon tea, we had a pot of tea for two (English Breakfast) and I had a scone with jam and cream this was too die for! My daughter had a Brie and Cranberry sandwich which was irrestible and very filling.. she was disappointed she didnt have room for cake! All served with beautiful china (although it did not match it was very quirky and what you would expect of the time) everything looked lovely presented on the table. In a relaxing atmosphere we felt like we drifted back in time. I'd also like to thank Adam and Kerry for their wonderful service. I have had tea at the Ritz, Savoy which i needed an overdraft for and now the Blackbird which is great value for the food and experince, please do not hesitate to go there, you won't be disappointed!

“What a truly vintage treat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Had afternoon tea at the Blackbird on a chilly Sunday afternoon. We had to wait for a table downstairs (but in fact there's several floors, all attractively decorated with marvellous retro furnishings). The service, ambience, decor and food were all simply lovely.
We had the cream tea - delicious scones, cream and jam, served on wonderfully quaint china, with real tea strainers. In keeping with the whole vintage vibe, our waitresses looked just the part with smart blouses and neatly-styled hair. Can't wait to return, taking visiting friends to share the experience.
Check out the vintage loo, too!
