There is little need to cross the channel if you want an authentic Parisienne cafe experience you can find it right here in Brighton, first the window display got my attention with a delicious array of cakes, I am always greeted by polite and friendly staff, "bonjour" French reassuringly! the only difficult bit, what to choose ? Since my 1st visit I have had some of the best croissant and pain a raisin here just with a really nice cup of coffee it's a great way to start the day. I have tried many of the other cakes on offer they are all delicious without being overly sweet. Tart au citron and Opera are my favourites.
The savoury menu is equally as good and all freshly made. The soups and the quiche my choice for lunchtime.
Before you leave be sure to try a sample of one of the many colourful flavours of macarons on offer, they have that magical combination of melt in the mouth then slightly chewy texture followed by a release of subtle flavour to your pallete. It's no surprise that they are all made by a French Artisan patissier, Mr Plumart clearly has a passion for his craft.
Since discovering Cocoa all my friends and family have at some stage received a special order Birthday cake or the very least a box of macarons, it makes the perfect gift.
