“Afternoon tea”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

We had the most delightful afternoon tea at this wonderful hotel, set in the middle of Brighton. What a find. The tea was something else, with a great selection of cakes and sandwiches. Service couldnt have been better, with our waitress constantly checking on our enjoyment and needs.
The property offers charm , with a lovely atmosphere. A perfect place for a wedding.
We will certainly be back.

I stayed here with my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary. The room we stayed in was lovely with free standing bath, huge shower and expresso machine! Loved it. Perfect location as Seafront just two minutes away as is the Brighton lanes. We had dinner there too which was delicious and reasonable, lovely atmostphere too. We were given complimentary champers and chocolates with our meal which was a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was perfect. Thank you Hotel du Vin will definately stay here again.

I stayed with my husband and baby for one night as we were attending a wedding being held at the hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were exemplary and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had mentioned prior to arriving that an early check in if possible would be really appreciated because of the timing of the wedding. Our room was ready early which meant we could get ready for the wedding in our own room (instead of a bathroom somewhere) and did not have to leave the wedding party later to check in and sort out our things.

Our room (Beringer) was on the second floor therefore away from the bar / other noisier areas, quiet, air conditioned, really spacious (loads of room for travel cot and baby paraphernalia), nespresso machine, really comfortable bed, great shower. We loved it!

Breakfast was generous, relaxed and very good.

Previous reviewers have mentioned the lack of parking. There is a large loading bay outside where we unloaded our things, and the Russell Road NCP car park is 5min walk away and you can pre-book a space there (via the NCP website, at a discount), which is of particular use if you are aiming to be there on a busy Saturday on a sunny summer day in summer as we were, as the centre apparently gets really busy with queues for the car parks extending onto the surrounding roads.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms very quiet and are further away from the bar area and the Pub du Vin.

My husband and I stayed here for a short break and it was a brilliant base from which to visit Brighton - right in the Lanes and in spitting distance of the sea! The room was lovely, the food in the bistro delicious and all staff extremely polite and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed over the weekend, and we found Paul the concierge to be outstanding, his knowledge of the local area was great, in addition to him really taking the time to understand our needs.

We were unhappy in our original room, but Paul changed the rooms for us, and we were very happy.

The Hotel looks great and the food was really good, but its the staff that make the place, well done Paul, you should ask your boss for a pay rise, your a credit to the Hotel.

A lovely hotel with friendly and attentive staff .
The hotel is really well situated ,close to the beach and the lanes area. It's a very busy hotel with lots of weddings which meant that there were areas of the hotel which we couldn't access as hotel guests
So we didn't get the benefit of the courtyard area which is a shame because its a lovely feature
Food and drink a little pricey
As a result of being very busy the hotel has a different vibe to other HDV's that we have stayed in

Nice Hotel in the central Brighton area, the bar is nice although over priced, the restaurant has a lovely ambience the meal selection is ok, the meals them selves are small but tasty, the service is slow its seems understaffed our time of dining.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. For the best tankered of local ale, Pub du Vin is one of Brighton city center's treasures with its classic pub dining. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade. ... more   less
