Stayed at Hotel du Vin on business (training course at Roche Burgess Hill). Very comfortable hotel and as advertised 'quirky'. Great location and luckily great weather so able to stroll along Brighton front morning and evening. the hotel bistro was excellent and only round the corner from Jamie Oliver's. Don't know if value for money as was paid for by Roche. All in all an enjoyable few days.

What good is a great location, interesting quirky rooms or anything else for that matter if you can't sleep. The " new mattresses" in this not inexpensive room turns out to be a box spring without a mattress on top once I stripped away the bedding to see why I spent a totally sleepless night. In response to my complaints, I got an apology and some bed pads but what I really crave is a mattress. I guess that is too much to ask for.

I stayed 2 nights in HdV in Brighton. The hotel is fantastic. It enjoys a superb location close to the beach and is in just a few minutes from the shopping area. I booked a superior room that comes with a huge bathroom including a shower and a nice bathtub. Nespresso is en suite and is free of charge - that was a pleasant surprise. The staff was extremely nice and helpful.
Both the bar and the bistro made you sitting in and tasting through the entire menu. The food was delicious and there is a healthy range of quality wines to choose from however it made me worry that a large proportion of the wines were from the new world. Anyway, mostly I stayed with wines from the classic European wine regions. I was very happy to find wines on the list from my home country :)

I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit to the town.

Room Tip: They don't use room number but the use names of wineries. Drouhin is a good choice.

Tend to always use HDV when staying in brighton as location is very convenient to explore and had another enjoyable stay . This time went for basic room which was clean comfortable although a bit noisy . Reception staff very helpful and friendly , service in the bar is a bit hit/miss in evenings when busy . I would say its time for a bit of an uplift as certain areas looking tired/worn

In all ways a classy hotel to walk into. The room itself - particularly the huge bathroom - was excellent and the comfy chairs and sofas in the bar area made you want to settle in and try the wine list. The staff were friendly and the location was perfect - turn left for the shopping in the Lanes and turn right for the sea front. You are in a trendy world of hen weekends so Friday night was a little noisy until 11pm but against that there were so many places to eat and drink all around you that it made you relax and enjoy the visit. A little expensive and parking is a pain as you have to park 10 minutes away in an NCP carpark - £50 for the 2 days - but it stays in our mind as an excellent hotel for a special trip to Brighton.

Room Tip: We selected a superior room and thought it was one of the best hotel rooms we have been in.

We booked in for one evening and had a very pretty room with an amazing bathroom Walk in shower and lovely big bath too. The bed was comfortable and there was lovely linen on the bed. Small complaint was the very dirty windows!

I was looking to combine business with pleasure so needed someone to take my wife along with 2 small dogs. We had a great suite and were not treated like 2nd class citizens just because we had dogs The location was great as it meant my wife could, if she wanted, leave the dogs in the room while she visited the Lanes. My wife also said that she would return for another visit...so it must be good!

Room Tip: I needed a quiet room as asked for one above the bar (which closed at 11:00). This was very quiet...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. For the best tankered of local ale, Pub du Vin is one of Brighton city center's treasures with its classic pub dining. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade. ... more   less
