“Saturday”

No parking space and we arrived on a Saturday and spent approx 60 to 90 mins trying to park but ended up parking at another hotel at a cost due to not being a resident. Additionally we were disappointed that upon arrival 3pm, the restaurant was fully booked. Top tip being to book table before arriving because residents do not get priority. For the price and as a seasoned traveller, I would say this hotel is not vale for money. For simply a bedroom in a nice hotel - it is very nice. Room service late night menu is also very limited and very disappointing compared to other hotels of same price. The bar seemed to be closing around midnight albeit open for "mixes" etc. Not sure whom this hotel is targeting really as some mixed messages in services.

I stayed here on business and was very impressed with the staff and my stay. A very quick check in which was appreciated as I came in late. The breakfast was actually good as well. I will use this hotel again.

I have eaten at this Hotel Du Vin several times and enjoyed the experience so much, my wife and I actually choose to have our small and personal wedding reception here.
The food is excellent, the wine is amazing, the hotel is superb (we stayed here too!) and the service is second to none!
It is a little pricey but you do get what you pay for.
A+++++

Room Tip: The back of the hotel will naturally be a little quieter, but they are all excellent and no room has...

Quick and friendly check in. Superior room comfy with very nice bathroom, free standing bath and roomy shower room.
Breakfast very good, sure you wait awhile but it is cooked fresh.
Comfy bar area, drinks not too bad, large house wine and G&T £9.
Excellent location, straight out and you are on the seafront or 5mins walk from lanes and shops etc.
All in all good two day break would return

Right in the centre of Brighton, located in a quiet side street, this HdV hotel has all the usual brand comforts and reliable standards and on one of its Sunday promotions represents excellent value. It also takes dogs, so across the road to the beach with you, knowing that restorative breakfast is only moments away.....

Many will be impressed by the quaintness of this place, which is fine if that sort of thing impresses you. There are indeed some fine features, which means it has the potential to be a top venue. Unfortunately, a number of negative features let it down, and we are left with a missed opportunity.

A comfy bed and pillows, spacious bathroom, good quality towels and robes all leave positive impressions. However, a non-existent air conditioning makes for a poor night's sleep. Yes, this place is kept so hot that you need air conditioning even in November!! Or you can open the french doors and risk intruders entering the room and / or be kept awake by seagulls.

Breakfast is good, but takes a while to order the cooked option. The server seemed flustered with only 7 people in the restaurant - I wonder how this works when it's busy. Otherwise the staff seemed friendly and accommodating.

Parking is definitely not convenient (or inexpensive), even with the hotel discount that they can offer if you park at Russell Road NCP car park (it's still £18.75 per 24 hours instead of the standard £25).

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. For the best tankered of local ale, Pub du Vin is one of Brighton city center's treasures with its classic pub dining. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade. ... more   less
