Good price for a last minute 2-night stay (better to phone than book through their website). See room comments though. Food in bistro was great, better than expected (breakfasts and a dinner). Coffee at breakfast very disappointing - weak.

Room Tip: Rectory is right above the Pub du Vin and music seeps through. On a Sunday/Monday out of main season...

Look for the special offers, I stayed over on a Sunday ,Monday deal, so the room cost 10£ if 99£ was spent in the bistro(food only) for 2 people.
There was happy hour with 2 for one on selected wines and cocktails.
The only problems were the beds were extremely hard, and I like a firm mattress, and they have a bed frame that juts out rather so it is easy to knock yourself in the dark, also the check in staff were not as efficient as we would have hoped.
The hotel has an old world atmosphere and was a joy to be in.i liked the nespresso coffee machine in the room.

If offered the room called Quinta don't take it!!! This bedroom should not ever be offered for rental. It is right on the roadside and 'smokers corner' is outside the bedroom window. Very noisy. When we stayed the heating wasn't working and neither was the television.

The upside is the staff and management did their best to rectify heating and tv but couldn't move us as they were fully booked but did discount our bill. The food, bar and service are wonderful and if they get rid if this room I'm sure it would be perfect.

I was looking for a decent hotel for a birthday break for my boyfriend I looked on Secret excapes and saw Hotel du Vin in Brighton was on offer for £115 + £5 booking fee so I looked on the Hotel du Vin website and found an even better deal £149 for DBB in a standard room but with a free upgrade to an executive room if available.

We arrived at 2pm to a very warm reception, I asked about the upgrade and was told for £35 we could upgrade to a junior suite so we did! The room was lovely, we had a bath in the bedroom which was fun, the bathroom had the standard massive shower a hotel du vin signature. The bed was huge with lovely linnen on. The room was very comfortable and had eveything you could need, we dont drink cofee but there was a very nice pod coffee maker in the room and lots of nice things too eat (you had to pay for them quite pricey) but very good quality.

We ate in the restaurant which was very nice, typically French! they did Jonathan a birthday plate with a bowl of icecream which was very nice my only quibble was the chocolate brownie I ordered for my desert was tasteless.

Breakfast was amazing I wish I could have stayed longer and eaten more I had the full english the quality of all the components of the breakfast was fabulous it's the best breakfast I have had in a hotel for along time! Needless to say the croissants were superb.

The only downside is the parking in Brighton its worse than London lots of spaces are 2 hours only and the overtight price is aprox £25 the hotel did do a discount in the NCP but it still spoils it a bit.

I would definitely recomend this chain of hotels, we will return.

Room Tip: Its situated in the Lanes so a back room is quiter.

Great location for the Brighton member of the HdV chain. Stayed one night in a ground floor room. Some noise from the road outside, so would suggest an upper floor. Rooms nice but lack some attention to detail.

Food in restaurant good sensible stuff, you are not going to be disappointed, service can be slow.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor

Friends suggested the Hotel Du Vin chain and they were right. A hotel that cares with great staff, non standard hotel design and a building with character. Being near the sea is great, and close to the Lanes, North Lanes, Museum etc. The restaurant was romantic and food excellent, the autumn starter of beets was really good. Some of the staff are authentically French, i.e. rather austere but the manager and the staff were beyond excellent. A great place for a get away or a celebration. Will have to try the other Hotel Du Vins now.

Room Tip: The basic rooms are great but the premium ones are really good. Enjoy the odd shapes and roof lines...

We were a peculiar party - three doubles for three single women, including one in her late 80s who was treating the other two. Two sets of somewhat odd requirements, but HdV met the lot really. Loved the rooms friend and I had - wonderful monsoon shower and giant bath, a little balcony (mainly intended for smokers I suspect as it's on the north side of the hotel), not unreasonably priced mini-bar. Had dinner one night - service and food spot on, and drinks both - extensive wine/drinks list could have kept us amused for many an evening.
Helpful staff pleased the octogenarian especially. She was so taken with hotel/food/service that she thought we could look for HdVs for our future annual weekends away. Dead right - we had already come to that conclusion. Lively enough for us, peaceful enough for her; we liked quirky, she liked soft bed; bar delighted us, room service kept her very happy.
Only mild gripes...Coffee at breakfast really awful: tasted like stewed percolated disguised in a cafetiere, but the latte was great. No radio in rooms - it should be easy to provide this on telly shouldn't it?
Friend and I weren't paying, which obviously rather colours our views. For a treat, it was pretty much divine.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. For the best tankered of local ale, Pub du Vin is one of Brighton city center's treasures with its classic pub dining. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade. ... more   less
