“Good Location, Average Hotel, Great Staff”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

This hotel is above retail units in a good location to easily reach all that Brighton has to offer.

Our room was at the rear of the hotel on the fifth floor and was large and clean. However the bathroom was 'tired' and suffered from patches of dirty grout around the bath, discolouration around the sink waste and patches in the bath that appeared to be the enamel breaking down. Although we were offered a room change we decided to stick with what we had!
The only opening window had been 'sealed' with grey adhesive tape and the A/C wasn't too useful. However we spent a quiet and comfortable night. All the public areas seemed clean.
Although Brighton has a plentiful supply of restaurants we opted to eat in the hotel. The meals were good quality and well cooked. The breakfast, apart from the tinned tomatoes which looked tired, was up to Premier Inns' usual standard.
The staff were great and went out of their way to ensure that we had a good stay.

Check-in was a bit slow as only one person on reception, she was friendly and knew how to do her job. The hotel isn't the greatest, in as much as its a bit tired looking and although its slap bang in the town centre I personally think its in the wrong place. Reception is on the first floor and the lift to get up there is really slow, your better off just walking up the stairs. The security of the hotel is a bit lack as some doors were just wedged open. I'm guessing this is a housekeeping trick to help them out. Parking for the hotel is in an NCP car park at the rear of the hotel, this is really expensive at £24.00 a day but the hotel will validate your ticket which reduces it to £18.00. The walk from the car park to the hotel can be a bit scary as its down a side road that's not well lit. There are CCTV cameras but who knows if they work or not? There are sometimes groups of homeless people at the pedestrian exit from the car park, which can feel intimidating. I know this is nothing to do with PI, but it is something to know.
Breakfast wasn't great, I have had a lot worse. It was a buffet brekkie with food on a hot plate, which not always good. The staff in the hotel were great, all had smiles and were happy to help.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us an honest review.

I appreciate your comments about the team, I always personally relay comments to them so once again thank you.

I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your breakfast experience with us, we are working hard to improve our breakfast offering all the time so your feedback is valuable. Recently we have been switching to plated service as the volume of our diners reduces with the aim that this will improve the overall experience for our guests. With regards to the security of the hotel it is with great concern that I ensure you that this is something that we take seriously and we have measures in place to ensure the safety of our guests, including 24 hour CCTV, contract security and regular floorwalks. I also appreciate your further comments about the environmental factors that we face in the centre of Brighton and would just say that it can be a challenging location, however we are always working towards improving our guests journey wherever possible.

I hope you choose to stay with us should you return to Brighton.

Kind Regards,

Got such a good night's sleep at this place, only 58 quid for two nights, bargain! Room was a really good size and the bed was probably the comfiest bed I've ever stayed in. Great central location and friendly staff! Highly recommended for a stay in brighton!

Arrived for a three night stay during a cold snap. Thermostat in our bedroom only worked for ten seconds before switching off. The hotel provide a portable heater-not that efficient-still very cold.

Otherwise, the room was clean, beds, pillows and duvet very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. Rooms are very quiet. The breakfast selection and the quality of food was surprisingly very good indeed.

The location is right in the City centre. We would recommend this hotel.

My wife and I as well as our two children stayed here on a recent trip to Brighton. Whilst the Premier Inn rooms are all very similar, I must say that this family room (506) was much bigger than normal and made it very comfortable for the 4 of us.

The staff were very helpful and it is a great, central location as well.

We loved Brighton and we will certainly stay here on the next visit.

I stayed here over the christmas break for 2 nights with my husband and 2 year old son. We had a family room and it was a very good size with plenty of room for a travel cot. The staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful and even helped us take our luggage to the car when we departed. The beds were very comfortable and it was nice and quiet in the room we stayed in at the back of the hotel. It was quite hot the first night but the air con was very good. It was a great central hotel for exploring Brighton with all the shops and restaurants on your doorstop. I would really recommend the restaurant Foodillyc which does an excellent buffet for less than 7 pounds. The only downside is that the hotel has no parking and so you have to either use the NCP car park which is 20 quid a day or look for somewhere much furthur afield and walk into Brighton which we did.

A lovely, pleasant 3 day stay here for New Years. The staff exceeded themselves and went that extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Highly recommended and close to pretty much everything! Housekeeping done each morning and privacy respected. Had breakfast one morning and this was fresh and enjoyable.
