“Great place to stay and great location!”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Stayed in one of the private rooms for one night, couldn't be happy with our stay. Great place and atmosphere in a brilliant location and all for a decent price. One of the best hostels I have stayed in and would definitely recommend. Breakfast was also included with the private room with a good variety of choices so was definitely a plus. Nice lounge, dining and outside seating area, you are also able to use the kitchen facilities to prepare your own food.

Hostel staff were incredible friendly, helpful and accommodating. Had a brilliant time in Brighton and most of that was due to where we stayed. Would really recommend and will definitely be staying here in future!

The place is amazing for a long stay and I was sorry I was only staying for a short period stay. They have a kitchen that you can prepare food in and meet and greet every night.

Pros:
1) Great Atmosphere
2) Friendly Staff
3) Great Amenities for a hostel
4) Breakfast included with my private room

The drawbacks are a few, but I would stay again, but be better prepared.
1) There are a lot of steps. If you have trouble with steps, don't stay here.
2) The wireless internet signal wasn't strong enough to reach the top floor where my private room was. I just went downstairs to the main lobby where it was working. (Hopefully, they'll fix this soon)
3) Seagulls woke me up at night. I was on the top floor and I'm pretty sure there was a nest outside my window. Next time, I'll add soothing music to my Ipod and just fall asleep to that.

The Price and Location are worth it. Just be prepared for the Seagulls and know that you may have to go to the main lobby for internet.

Hi
Thank you for your comments.

A few replies to the problems you had when staying with us.
1. Our wifi- was being upgraded to fibre (fast broadband) whilst you was staying with us. This is why we were hada few days of the connection dropping, but we are pleased to say everything is working well again throughout the hostel, and 10x the speed :)

2. The seagulls are a pain, especially as they nest on the roofs of properties in the area. We do have a solution and will be sorted out when our roof is being repaired in September , so our future guests can have a sleep in and not be woken by the new seagull babies.

3. If you have problems with loads of stairs, email us beforehand next time, and we can try and move you to a lower floor.

Hope to see you again, next time

I felt like I was staying in a hotel, but didn't have the money to afford a hotel. You can pay for singles, doubles and triples i think, as well as rooming in a dorm like setting, so it just depends on who is going with you and what you feel like. They have a collection of DVDs and books to borrow as well as offering breakfast for free to the private singles, doubles, and triples. It is set up really nice and was great t stay in while in Brighton!

Room Tip: if you are staying with multiple people try to get a private triple if you have 3+ ppl and it wil be...

This hostel is very friendly toward the backpacker. They have different themed nights, for example while I was there they had a freshly-baked scones evening, and one evening with other snacks that were all free to hostel dwellers. There is a kitchen which is available for guests to use during certain hours, as well as a dining area where you can eat your meals and breakfast if you purchase it. There's a shared computer available and they have wifi as well.
The bedrooms were pretty much what you would expect from a hostel, and the mattresses were not particularly comfortable but pretty much standard with other hostels. I found the hostel to be overall clean and the staff to be accommodating.
The hostel is very close to the area where the coach (bus) stops, so if you are taking National Express to from London Brighton, it's just a few blocks walk to the hostel and once there you are very close to the University of Brighton's Grand Parade Campus and to the Royal Pavilion. Good location for those sites.

Turned up to be told by receptionist I had booked a week later then I needed but she was excellent. Saw my booking and as they had a free double room was upgraded from twin to double at no extra cost.

Room was tidy and had a shower, TV, tea and coffee not unlike a budget hotel. Excellent location.

Cannot recommend highly enough.
