I love this place. They often have a live Jazz band at weekends, or some sort of event going on Friday/Saturday evening. The food is always good too - MUCH better than your average pub food! Their Sunday roasts are good, and I've had a burger there which was both massive and made fresh with good quality meat - definitely a man vs food challenge. If I could upload the photo from iPad I would. Personally, I like the atmosphere they are going for too - very quirky. Admittedly it is a little dark, but it's certainly NOT grotty as the other review says. They have a good selection of the standard drinks that you would expect to find, and cocktails both on and off the menu (try thier expresso martini!!). And note these cocktails are made properly with bothncare and attention, not just simply thrown together like many other places. Ive seen them pour one or two away before because it was quite right. If there is a cocktail you want that isn't on the menu, they will happily make it for. I'm not going to drop names, but as a result of great food, sevice and drinks, you'll get a few "celebs" come here on a regular basis too. Bouncers on the door at weekends stop all the riff raff and over the top stag doos coming in - after all, who really wants to go drinking in a rowdy pub? Recommended stop in Brighton for a pre-evening drink, lunch/dinner, or cocktails.
