We were staying at the marina so bused into Brighton and took the train back later. On a lovely sunny day along the beach, with an ice cream, very English seaside jaunt.

You don't have to be heading for the boats, bars and restaurants of Brighton Marina to enjoy a trip on Volk's Railway. Created by a local inventor, Magnus Volk, in the 1880s, it's the world's oldest operating electric railway – and retains its historic charm. Not to be missed!

It's the oldest electric train still working, and boy can you feel it. However great way to he to the marina. Don't expect too much comfort though.

This is an oddity and for a few pounds, if you like anything that rolls on tracks, it’s worth it. It runs a mile up and down the beach and it’s a piece of history.
