It's a short train ride to the marina but being the first electric railway makes the trip memorable.

You don't have to be into trains to enjoy this simple pleasure that's been around for about 100 years. It's a great way to save your feet if you want to get from the main Pier to the Marina or the naturist beach. Buy a return and save some money. The people working on this are all or mostly volunteers (or used to be, at least). They are all friendly, helpful and enthusiastic about the Volks Railway. It's not a long route but can be enjoyed whatever the weather. Just wrap up warm if it's not a nice day as the carriages are all open. We've been on this loads of times and think it's great.

Great idea, but Brighton should let them go right the way along the beach to the other side where it's crazy busy in the summer. This railway only goes across the less busy section of the beach, and goes nowhere really! Such a shame.

The raillway travels from the wheel to about a 15 minute walk short of the marina.
The speed is so slow that slow bicycles overtake you.
The carriages undergo sickeningly sudden direction changes throughout the journey.
There are many crossings and they sound an alarm at everyone of them.

The worst part is the marina is still a 15 minute walk away through a poorly signposted maze of concrete tunnels and ugly car parks and ugly concrete buildings.
