“Exceeded my expectations by far...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

Having visited Brighton many times, and finally having moved here, we got round to visiting the Pavilion this afternoon. It is like something out of a Terry Prachett novel with a little Harry Potter thrown in for good measure. The audio guide was a little stuffy but informative and good that it was included in the admission. The banqueting hall and polished brass in the then cutting edge kitchens, and the hidden servants corridoors were particularly intriguing. It was dark & cold outside so it was nice to see the fireplaces still in use through the Pavillion. If you live in Brighton & Hove take proof of residency for reduced price entry.

“Amazing history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

Well worth a visit to see this fantastic building and its history. Well worth the entry fee. The halls and rooms have been restored to a very high level and do give a great picture of life in the Pavilion.

“Worth at least one visit.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2012

It was nice to take the tour of the Pavilion at my own pace with the head phone tour. I was surprised at how much I learnt while walking round, they do however need to review some of the speaking parts, the stuck up woman's voice and the way she talked about the Kings weight was a little insulting (I'm aware she was speaking from a snob point of view) even so it needs a tweak. The tea room vas very basic and crowded, it reminded me of a village hall bun fight.....one very bossy old lady was loudly directing staff, it was actually more amusing than annoying, great entertainment value even if unintended.
Its worth a visit to this beautiful building steeped in History with a few surprises i was unaware of. Im happy to say I walked away feeling happier about going in the Pavillion is such a striking unusual building, now I know its secrets when I drive past. Go discover for yourself.

“What a place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012 via mobile

Its a very interesting and exiting place that really takes you back hundreds of years, especially the kitchen and the ball room with the amazing dragon depictions were amazing, a bit expensive to get in but its worth doing it at least once

“Last year was great but oh dear what have you done this year!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Went to lunch to try Jamie's menu and soak up the per Christmas atmosphere. Unfortunately the weather was terrible but that said the whole restaurant area, which was once so welcoming last year with comfy sofas and bustling bar and table seating area, has all gone. You are now greeted by bench seats and a cafe, very starkly furnished and uncomfortable. The self service cafe has a very limited and expensive menu which is so busy trying to be clever that it really fails. I had the pork bap which was overfilled with of rocket, soggy apple and a strange chutney and did nothing for the beautiful pork. The bap disintegrated so made eating it a bit of a challenge.

I would certainly not recommend a trip to the restaurant to anyone. I am just glad that we didn't book our family get together this year, (we had a lovely time last year). We had already been put off by the forced "hamper menu" for parties over 10 people.
