“A National Trust beauty”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

A gorgeous if exhausting place to wander and explore. Some fo the upward climbs are not for the faint hearted. A good afternoon out and a fab cream tea.

“Christamas diner nightmare”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Went for xmas diner o save cooking had a lovely meal last year this year total nightmare even though all food had been ordered weeks before the starters arrived after 30 minutes then the main meals 45 minutes after that the food was all cold the only thing hot was the gravy the potatoes looked liked they had been cooked two days before ever thing was shocking, the sort of meal that you would expect to see in a bad run down old peoples home i would not even serve this to my dog in the end we got are money back and went home having eaten only a starter, the whole place looked like a sinking ship think they had taken on more than they could handle also to make matters worse there was no heating apart from a log fire and in a building this size makes it freezing and along side the fact that it is up devils dyke make s it even colder a good tip would be to close for christmas next year.

Devil's Dyke is wonderful for walks, picnics and flying kites! A lot of hills, but absolutely beautiful views.

“Don't get lost!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

It's beautiful, but busy at the same time with lots of cars and children around the pub.
If you're trying to continue hiking on the South Downs Way towards east (Pyecombe), DON'T go on the road marked as "Public Footpath". Surprisingly people working in the pub didn't know which footpath is actually the SDW, and some people were pretty sure they know it but they were WRONG! When you are facing the pub'd entrance (facing mainly the east), keep going to the right handside of the pub, and that should lead you to SDW, which is a great walk if the weather's good!
