“If you like taxidermy, you'll love this place”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

This is a low-fi, slightly musty old museum outside of the town centre on Dyke Road. It boasts an enormous collection of Victorian taxidermy (mainly birds) and skeletons, so great if you're an artist, zoology student or just plain interested in taxidermy and Victoriana.

Has a nice little shop and is a good place to potter about for an hour or so on an inexpensive day out. There's also a kids playground opposite and a lovely, child-friendly pub just up the road if you're thinking of making a day of it with your family.

There's a bus stop nearby but I don't know if there's any parking near the museum, so if you want to drive that might be a bit of a problem as a lot of the parking in the area is residents only.

“Very cool Victoriana”
Reviewed November 23, 2011

Very good old school museum. Mostly taxidermy done birds styled in natural settings. Also various butterflies, skeletons of animal kingdoms, fossils, and butterflies of the creatures around Britain.

There is no entrance fee, but there is a 1£ suggested donation at the end of the Museum. I gave two. You better donate.

This museum is about 1 mile north of brighton station and can be best reached by using the 77 bus.It is as you would guess full of stuffed birds and fossils. It is well layed out and if you are interested in the subject matter of the museum well worth a visit.

“Awesome little museum!”
Reviewed February 3, 2009

The Booth Museum is one of those quirky little places you'd never find as a tourist, but definitely worth a visit if you're looking for the more unusual side of Brighton. Get there before they renovate it and it loses its character!
