“Peaceful and Relaxing”
Reviewed October 14, 2008

A quiet and peaceful Bed and Breakfast during our stay. My hubby and I stayed here for two nights. We found the location a little walk (a seemly long walk if carrying luggage) from the meca of Brighton. It is well worth the downhill walk from the train station. The weather was excellent for walking. Matt and Andie were very hospitable. We were greeted with beverages,a map to the local attractions, and recommendations for dining out. Though we weren't able to check it all out the suggestions were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Would stay here again without a doubt.

I have just returned from a lovely long week-end with my teenage daughter, staying at The Number 21. Run by Matt and Andy, who welcomed us on arrival, while Matt took our cases to our room, Andy made us a cup of tea and took the time to map out places of interest and places to eat etc. Parking was easy - the hotel provides permits no problem. The 21 is in a perfect location, down a quiet side street but within walking distance of the sea (we had a sea view from our room) and Pier,The Lanes, Pavilion, Dome etc, I didn't have to drive for the entire stay. Our room was elegantly furnished and spotlessly clean, maid service everyday, a generous tea tray and fluffy white robes and slippers and complimentary mineral water in the fridge. The breakfasts here are outstanding, I recommend the full English, its a sin not to indulge. Matt and Andy were perfect hosts, they made us feel relaxed and welcome, we had the best time, couldn't ask for more. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at The Twenty One in August and it definitely lived up to all the excellent comments made by previous reviewers. It's in a quiet spot, but very convenient for bars, restaurants, shops, the beach and so on. Our room was immaculate, and very tastefully decorated. Excellent breakfasts, brilliant selection of biscuits / snacks and even a fridge in the room. Everything said previously about Matt and Andy is true: they made us feel really welcome, and it was like staying with friends. We would not hesitate to recommend this place, and would certainly stay again.

My sister and I stayed for 3 days in Andy and Matt's great guesthouse at the beginning of October 2008. We were very pleased with everything about our stay. Will definitely return.

Have just returned home from a two night stay at The Twenty One. We booked it on the strength of the other reviews on Trip Advisor and it certainly lived up to the high praise it receives.
Our room was beautiful and very comfortable with everything you could need.
Matt and Andy were so welcoming and took the time to recommend places to visit and good restaurants nearby.
The breakfasts were superb and so generous we found we didn't need to eat again till the evening.
We would not hesitate in recommending this guest house and will certainly be staying there again ourselves.

We picked this place due to the excellent reviews it has already received on here and were not disspapoitned!! Matt and Andie simply could not have been more helpful, from giving advice on where to head out, where to eat, and going above and beyond the call of duty to esnure my partner got the breakfast she wanted!

The Twenty One is impeccably decorated, with every little touch having been tended to, especially the delicious fire extinguishers!!

We stayed in Room 6, which was spacious, beautifully decorated, very clean and very quiet. The breakfast was excellent and the service could not have been better.

I would have no hesitation recommending this place to anyone, in fact I would positively encourage you to go there.

Location wise it is a very short walk from the shops and the pier and the bars!

It was refeshing to come across a place to stay that I absolutely could not fault and this is no doubt due to the dedication, professionalism and personal touch of the owners.

  • Liked — The friendly owners!
  • Disliked — Didn't get to stay in it long enough!!!

My wife & i stayed at the twentyone for 2 nights. we had seen the reviews on trip advisor & were impressed with them. when we got there we were not dissapointed. the twentyone is in a great location just off the sea front & about 15 mins walk from brighton center. Andy greeted us & told me where i could park the car. this cost £5 per day & they don't make any money from it, it's just what you have to pay. when i had parked the car andy got a map of brighton out & told us about some of the places to eat.We stayed in room 5. i was very impressed with the room. it had everything you could possibly want.bathrobes & slippers were also available. The tea & coffee facilities were fabulous. kit kat's peanuts & gorgeous biscuits were all in abundance.the room had a great little flat panle tv with freeview & a built in dvd player. you could help yourselve to the free dvd library if you wanted.the attention to detail at the twentyone was amazing.the decor was of a very high standard & it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into it.The breakfast was as expected great. there was a large array of cereals & flapjacks & fruit. the full english breakfast was superb & that's coming from a yorkshireman who loves his breakfast.brighton itself was great. we had a meal in kemptown at a place called the kemptown brasserie where i had the best steak i have ever tasted, it was fantastic. we also had some lunch at a place that andy recommended called Bill's produce. this place is a greengrocers with loads of tables in the middle. they did fishfinger sandwiches if you wanted as well. had a great lunch. All in all we had a wonderful time & really enjoyed the trip which was made all the better for staying at the twentyone. we will definately be going back & staying at this fantastic B & B. Matt & andy make you feel really welcome & deserve all the success that comes their way.
