We stayed for 2 nights in the Cromwell room. It was lovely and spacious. Bathroom was quite small but does the job and was all extremely reasonably priced. The staff were extremely accommodating to all requests we had. Will definately be returning!

Room Tip: Cromwell room is listed as the "Superior Double Room" - Would definately recommend!

We have spent one night in Lichfield House. The 'Cliffton' room was small, dark and had no window. Bathroom was so cold that there was no way we would have a shower. Approx 30 minutes after our check in someone tried to get into our room. It was another guest who was allocated to the same room as me & my partner. We both had the same email from the hotel team confirming our booking. We had to use the 'phone on the wall' to contact reception. It was all too much. As it was our 6th anniversary we wanted to have a nice time. We went out for a meal but even this was ruined by reception team. We have been getting messages that our room is now called 'York' and it's on the 3rd floor. But our staff were in the room we have checked in before and we had a room key...all in all nightmare. We end up staying in 'Cliffton' room and had to listen people next door singing until 3am

Stayed here for 3 nights and was slightly worried after reading some of the reviews on here. We had the Cromwell Room which was simply stunning. The lady who serviced our room was there when we arrived and was very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The bed was one of the comfiest we have slept in, and I was delighted with the spotlessly clean white bedding and towels, bottled water, tea, coffee, biscuits, complimentary toiletries, chocolates, hairdryer and iron provided. Plenty coathangers and hanging space and drawers too. We had no problem with noise. It's in a great location, minutes from the seafront. No breakfast included, but we found Cafe Venus up the road and turn right, and The Regency on the sea front were both wonderful places for a full English. I'd have to say the shower room was very small indeed, but a great shower with plenty hot water and adequate for our needs. Excellent value for money and I will definintely go back there.

Room Tip: I can vouch for the Cromwell Room and the Oriental Room, didn't see the rest.

This is the only hotel we have ever stayed at that you wipe your feet when you leave...
The room was filthy, there were somebody else's pubic hairs on the pillows and a half eaten sandwich under the bed.
While my wife was taking a shower one of the very grubby tiles fell off the wall and hit her, at this point we had both had enough and had to use the phone on the wall to contact reception as there is nobody on site. I was greeted by a man who sounded like the Russian mafia, who told me if I didn't like it i could leave and there would be no refund offered. We advise if you don't want to catch something or get fatally injured do not stay here ....

This hotel is basic and not 4*. Had a room with an oddly designed 'wet' room which after a short shower soaked that room and then the bedroom carpet. Can't believe that the management are happy for this to happen every day. Tried to stop it happening and was worried how grubby the towel was when put on the bathroom floor. The bed was a good size but one side of the mattress was broken down so quite uncomfortable. The blinds had sections missing. The room needs a coat of paint if just to cover up the random hand prints.

Good points were the location and that rooms at the back are quieter as away from street noise.Good tea/coffee/chocolate choices in the room.

Whatever you do, do not make the mistake of booking this so called 4 star hotel. We took one look at our room and decided we did not want to stay there. After eventually getting through to reception which is from a phone in the lobby, we were told we would not get our money back, so we cut our losses and looked for other accomodation, there was no way we were going to stay!! The room was small and dingy, constant running water from the toilet cistern, told hubby he should of brought his tool bag!!! The extremely small bathroom also had a rather unpleasant smell. DO NOT STAY AT THIS 1 STAR HOTEL COME BEDSIT!!!

Where to begin with this review? If I had to sum it up in one word, I would struggle whether to use: awful, hideous or diabolical.

We booked one night at Lichfield House hotel and were told we could check in at 2pm. We arrived later at 2.30 to find the room still hadn't been cleaned. There were beer cans and plenty of weed left in the room. The cleaners turned up shortly afterwards (they were very helpful and polite).

The bed was broken so when we finally found someone in the hotel to talk to - there is no reception, just a half finished building site covered in rubble, paint tins etc - she told us a handy man would could and fix the bed. We left to have a walk around Brighton and when we returned, he had fixed some of the breaks but we could find anyone to get the rest fixed. I had to fix the bed myself by putting drawers from the cupboard under the bed.

The bathroom was better but the shower flooded the front of the bedroom and caused a piece of the wall to fall off. The plaster was cracker, the wallpaper was peeling and the paint was heavily stained due to the amount of damp.

There were no curtains, just some office blinds with most of the slats missing and the window wouldn't shut properly so it whistled with the wind all night.

Please, please avoid this hotel if you want a good stay in Brighton. How this place has a four-star rating I will never understand! And for £90 a night? Awful, awful, awful place.

Room Tip: Tip for the best room? Stay at the Premier Inn.
