I thought 'The Wellington' was a pretty fine pub and I am sorry it closed, but hey..we now have a brand new name 'The Ginger Dog' and a completely different culinary experience. No longer the favourite haunt of artisans and football fans, this is now an establishment favoured by the higher echelons of the health industry, media and junior television types, and distinguished members of the Kemptown glitterati. And the food is truly excellent. If your expenses account can take the hit then you ought to explore all aspects of their wonderful menu. It is not cheap, but this is nouvelle cuisine, so the portions are well...modest. So.... every reason to have a starter and a pudding in addition to the main course. Your unlikely to choke on the modest servings but relax, there will almost certainly be at least four doctors in the house to administer the Heinrich procedure. Crazy, idiosyncratic staff. Thoroughly recommended.

Went here for a friend's birthday and had a lovely meal. Starters of crab arancini and cod croquettes were ample and tasty. Mains of partridge and pumpkin and goats cheese pie were full of flavour and a good size. The pickled carrots were to die for! All washed down with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Too full for dessert, but would definitely return.

Birthday celebration for a party of 8, friendly and smooth service, delicious and well-cooked food, and a good ambience too. The whole group of adults and teenagers all enjoyed it - a big success. At lest on a par with other Ginger restaurants and maybe even better than some experiences - though I must say I'm a fan and always feel as though I'll get a reliably good experience from kitchen and front of house and menu. Yum
