Description: Located in the vibrant Kemp Town area of Brighton, The Townhouse provides a welcome change from stuffy restaurant dining, offering relaxed service and wonderful food. Utterly chilled out, The Townhouse not only has a dining room and bar in which to enjoy the company of friends, but a piano room where guests gather around the baby grand to sip wine and enjoy the tinkling of the ivories.

The pianist made the evening. Food was fine but over-priced and in some cases disappointing. Cold blanched broccoli as an accompaniment to my Parmesan Cream didn't do it for me. However, staff very pleasant (except why do they all say "Good choice"? Yuk) and nice surroundings.

Staying round the corner at Room with a View, they recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We wanted an early supper and arrived at 6 pm (their website shows they are open at 5 pm, but apparently they recently changed (but have yet to change the website!)
Their early evening two course menu at £14.95 proved excellent in quality and value. Grilled Bream on a Taglatelli with a mild curry sauce proved delicious (slightly strange though it may sound). My wife asked for a tomato sauce instead and this arrived with fresh baby tomatoes was also excellent. This was followed by two excellent puddings, a rich chocolate tart and ice cream with a hot espresso! Both were delicious. The only fault with the restaurant was perhaps the decor. Rather bare wooden tables, didn't really do justice to the food. However we would go back for certain were in the area again.

Conveniently sited for most of Brighton's attractions, with a relaxed atmosphere and nice food. The decor may not suit all tastes but is not obtrusive.
