Description: Iydea is a small and very busy express vegetarian canteen right in the heart of Brighton's North Laine area. All the food is freshly made and is on display so you can choose only what you want to go on your plate or to take away. There is an extensive breakfast menu from 9:30 every morning which changes to the lunch menu at 11:30 (12:00 Sundays). Iydea does get very busy and cramped so best to avoid peak times if you want a little more space and comfort.

Literally some of the best tasting food I have ever had and i'm not even vegetarian. Great prices, friendly staff, just all round greatness!

Being a meat eater from birth and loving it i have decided to try being "veggie" for a month.
Arriving at 1300 hours i realized this should be a good choice as the que was out the door. (and thats after the que being the length of the inside already) You need to choose before you get served really as a panic seems to erupt inside as you need to make your choices. I asked for coke but " thats not sold here but we have some lovely home made lemonade".
So the price for 2 meals and 2 lemonades was about £20 so not the cheapest lunch.
The food then....well in all honesty it was good. The lasagna had way to much mixed herbs in it (is this a sign of whats to come without meat?) the curry however was spot on. very enjoyable and so was the hot beetroot. the lemonade was a bit sharp but made a nice change.

Like the vibes of this place but to be rated 2nd in Brighton might be a little too high as it's a cafe, not a proper restaurant. The food was nice but lacked seasoning and slightly overpriced for what you get. Your food is served on a small plate which I felt is meant to give the illusion that you are getting more, when in reality you're not actually getting that much food for the price you're paying. The mark up must be massive. It was total caos trying to get a table and when we did other customers just stood by us watching for when we finished so they could get our seats! All in all it was good but something has to be done about the seating and we felt we got rushed out the door when we had just finished eating.

4.5 Stars. Stupid boy hadn't been impressed by a previous visit to Food For Friends so took a bit of persuading but really enjoyed this veggie cafe. His only comment was that he would have liked an extra main course option (they had run out of one the choices, veggie curry) and fewer drinks choices as he held up the queue trying to decide!! Food was tasty and we felt virtuous eating it as it was thoroughly nutritious. We viewed the breakfast menu whilst there and will definitely give that a go next time.

My wife and I heard of this place thanks to Trip Advisor and ate lunch here during a recent visit to Brighton. We are not vegetarians but having a vegetarian daughter and daughter-in-law we are both used to cooking and eating veggie meals at family gatherings. We were loooking for something a little lighter for lunch as we were heading off to a hotel and a three course dinner so thought this would be a good choice. We just loved the food, the variety, the atmosphere, the staff, the prices...the everything!! Two delicious meals and one tea for £14 is great value so please give it a try!!!
