Loved this hotel - the rooms are recently refurbished, stylishly modern and immaculately clean. There's no bar, although that's hardly something that central Brighton is short of. The hotel's website is excellent - it lets you book a specific room on a specific floor, and the site is refreshingly honest about which rooms might be a bit noisy at weekends. Hope to return.

This is a lovely clean hotel, a brisk walk from the lanes and the pier. Our room was very comfortable and clean but as it was on 3rd floor, 58 stairs up, with no lift carrying the case upstairs was a bit of a feat. Although there is a vending machine, this is on the ground floor; I much prefer a kettle in the room.
I would stay there again as it was very comfortable and clean.

Stayed at Topps last weekend (31/5-1/6) with my girlfriend and the hotel in general was perfect for what we required; Modern, clean, good location (near bars n restaurants but away from the noise) and not too expensive.

There was no view from our room apart from the back of other buildings behind but who cares about that?!?!
The room was even turned down while we were put even though we didn't ask for it!

Happy days!

Just back this evening from Topps, really good hotel central to everything you need in Brighton. As a lot of people have said no tea/coffee in room but if you choose who you stay with carefully than I'm sure they will go down to the reception in the morning to get a 'free' cuppa from the vending machine!

The room we stayed in was spotless, bright, very clean and everything you could wish for. My only slight grumble would be that there was no plug near to the mirror so had to dry my hair from a distance but really it certainly wasn't enough of a worry to spoil our stay.....will definitely return, thank you Topps for a fab weekend.

Caution if you stay in the very last room there is a steep climb up the stairs......but on the positive side good exercise from eating in the numerous restaurants you get to choose from! x

Room Tip: 169 last room, a little noisy as facing the square but really didn't bother us!

Its set in a lovely area, just off a lawned square (Regency Square, in fact!) which looks down over the sea (near the old pier) from the outside and first glance it looks as though a lot of money has been spent and it'll be a lovely hotel.

Its very clean looking and seems to have been refurbished very recently. We stayed in room 175 which was nice and small but seemingly quite pretty from first glance.

The hotel in general looked expensive but on closer inspection they did a lot of cost cutting - this cost cutting had a direct effect on our stay. The whole place has laminated flooring through out, and although it looks clean and sharp, it also means it's very loud with people coming and going at night time; footfall of people coming home and also the echoing of voices etc.

We came back to the hotel at about 11pm ish, which on a Saturday night isn't hugely late? As we walked in (and we were by no means being loud!) somebody said "shush" the only person I could see was somebody sitting at the reception desk. This made me feel concious of noise and felt like I had to whisper and creep up the stairs in the room etc.

The bed looked new, but I am not sure it was, as it was V creaky and every time I turned over, there was a loud clanking noise, which didn't help with my concious regarding the noise! it was also just annoying.

The pillows were not comfortable, as they had clearly brought cheap ones...

Bathroom was well equipped although you could hear everything your room mate was doing, even with the door closed. One thing I did find strange was although they provided towels... these towels were not in the bathroom but in the cupboard as you first walked into the door, there wasn't even a hand towel hanging in the bathroom, so I had to resort to drying my hands on the bathmat that was on the shower tray.

They did offer tea and coffee (and this is actually mentioned when you book) but you had to get it from the reception area from a vending machine - not hugely convenient for guests! We did have a cup of tea each, out of principle! :-0

it was generally very clean and seemingly quite impressive but when you dig a little deeper you find that there have been cost corners cut - which effect the visitors.

I wouldn't normally be so detailed on a review but I don't think it offers good value for money - £120 for one night, I personally expect a lot more for my money but if you need somewhere clean and have the money to spend - go for it.

Room Tip: I would go for a room right at the top, so you had no traffic passing you... the last room in the ho...

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Booked last minute on a bank holiday weekend and was apprehensive of what we had in store with the hotel itself. It's in a fantastic location, the old pier is just at the end of the road, shops near by and a street of testaurants behind which was a great find. A great location for parking as an NCP under grounding the square but not cheap at £22 a day. The hotel was exceptionally clean, rooms spacious, basic but modern. And the service was excellent, they couldn't do enough for us. It was a bit noisy at night but to be expected in a party town like Brighton! Would definitely stay there again on return!

We stayed here for the Friday and Saturday of the early bank holiday in May.

Location:
Really convenient location in Regency Square (where there is a big car park). About 15 min walk to the pier, 10 to the Lanes and modern shopping centre.

Room:
Very clean and comfortable. Bed was a little hard but was fine for two nights. The TV was great, though we didn't spend much time in the room to watch it, and the shower was excellent. Room came with a hairdryer which was a useful bonus. View was rubbish (of a roof top and vent) but that didn't really matter.

We were in room 177 which was right at the top so we didn't get much noise from people walking past our room but did get quite a bit of noise from Preston Street where there are bars and clubs open until the early hours. To be fair we did keep the window open which didn't help with noise but it was quite a warm night and the room felt humid. The noise was mentioned when we booked so we were prepared but I wouldn't suggest staying here if you want a really restful night.

Service:
Very friendly staff, you are simply given a key so you can come and go as you wish so we didn't go to the reception except to check in and out. Tea and coffee facilities were a bit lacking - there is a machine with those little beige plastic cups in the reception area but as we were on the top floor that involved walking down 3 flights of stairs.

Price:
We paid £100 a night and that seemed reasonable because it was the bank holiday and we were lucky to find a hotel that didn't have a 3 night minimum stay. Probably wouldn't pay that much on a normal night as it was about the same quality as a Premier inn.

Room Tip: Room 177 is a bit of a trek up the stairs so not good if you have mobility problems or lots of bagga...
