“Why it really isn't like Fawlty Towers...”
Reviewed September 9, 2007

From the road you see the Fawlty Towers similarity but hope it’s just the façade. As you struggle with your cases through the cumbersome doors you realise it isn’t at all like Fawtly Towers, it is in fact much worse.

It’s not the Abigail’s Party décor, the Krypton Factor windows, the soft-as-granite mattress or the mouldy shower curtain that sum this place up. It is in fact the leaflet in the rooms. Slightly faded like a menu outside a Red Lion Pub in Spain, with wonderful pictures of facilities which were once new. All except the pool which sports a biro X scratched across a couple enjoying a swim. Clearly they’re very sorry this facility is not currently available.

I recommend a stay in the Preston Park Hotel, preferably of less than 15 minutes. You’ll find it rather amusing.

Stayed at the Preston Park Hotel on 18/06/07 very friendly helpful staff in particular Lucy who sorted my cab problems! The rooms are dated and very over priced but Brighton can command those rates, my window didnt shut properly but other than that its clean and ok for a short stay do not expect 4*.

stayed here on saturday 24th march to be with our friends who had travelled down from birmingham for the weekend.
we had booked this hotel as it was near to the centre, easy parking and had leisure facilities, the first two reasons are true BUT where was the pool???? we were told at Reception that it was now closed as it was being converted for a conference room, unfortunately the leisure facilities are still advertised on the internet and also in the lobby of the hotel!!
The rooms are clean, but too hot and unable to turn down the radiators, bed too hard, pillows too soft!!! all in all a terrible experience, I would pay the extra and stay at a more central hotel

  • Liked — ease of the parking!

It looks nice but... House keeping don't dust behind TVs or top of wardrobes. The communal areas are the same. Run your finger along the top of the dado rail in the bar!. Men's toilet sink needed descaling. Our bathroom was large but the shower was terrible, sometime hot sometimes cold. Easy to travel into town; the bus stop is out side the front and reception ordered taxis. Overall 2 out of 5. It's not clean but it was okay for a cheap weekend.
