“Brilliant Work's Do!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

We had a Willy Wonka themed work's do here with dodgems and arcade games set up inside the hotel! The food was excellent and so was the service for 500 people! It is a long walk to go for a cigarette though.

Booked this Hilton partly due to the reputation of Hilton, partly due to convenient location. Well, 2 rooms, both on 6th floor, one refurbished, one not. When asked to change the unrefurbished room to one that was less like a cave, I was given the option of 2 others on floor 3 or 5... (Both of these were refurbished) I'm wondering why they tried to stick me in a dull, badly lit, claustrophobic mini box in the first place? Apparently they had put on the heating in the hotel.....which Is fine, BUT in teeny weeny rooms, with NO air conditioning, where the windows only open 2 inches it turned the rooms into saunas. All of our party couldn't sleep. There are so many hotels in Brighton, I WISH I hadn't booked this one. Oh, and watch out for the dead birds hanging in the netting outside of the windows on the upper floors, a real nice touch.

I reserved three rooms for 20 October (1 double and 2 singles) easy to find, parking was relatively easy too. Rooms were fine apart from the double which had monstrous scaffolding outside the windows with work dust on the windowsill, had we not already been told that the hotel was full i would have kicked up a fuss....there should be information when booking about such things. One single turned out to be a double and the other was an actual single bed which is no problem apart from the layout was very dingy and claustrophobic, the user of which labeled it "the cell" and barely slept a wink. Another complaint we all had was just how hot the rooms were, no air con or controls that we could see....one room had an old fan in the wardrobe! Check in staff were very friendly, the bar was really good too.....we spent a fortune but again, champagne ice should be fresh with each bottle you order, this was not the case, outside the bar area to the front of the hotel were tables with overflowing ashtrays which just should not happen with the right staffing schedule. Breakfast was very good but.....we were told to sit in an overflow room that was without any natural light and felt seperate and crowded. So, some good, some bad......perhaps there are much better rooms in this hotel....who knows, our experience would not see us returning anytime soon, despite my love for Brighton.

Room Tip: Don't do what we did, don't settle if you get a duff room with scaffolding!!!!

This was a bit of a "scouting mission" for a golfing base for next year, and I wasn't disappointed. It's a beautifully appointed hotel and, from memory, equal in quality to The Grand next door. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The room, and the bed, were massive. Couldn't work out how to turn the climate control totally off, so constant fan noise, but didn't really affect sleep. Breakfast was superb, with lots of choice. Looking forward to returning next year. Didn't use Spa, so ignore score for that.

Room Tip: A sea view would have been nice, but didn't explore the option. Then again; probably would'v...

A Hilton hotel with very helpful staff but the whole place needs renovation. We ate in the restaurant on our 1st night and found the meal to be very good if a bit expensive. Breakfast was excellent with enough choice for any needs. Bearing in mind this was a top class hotel, I expected more. The location is very good, you are right next to the shopping centre, 5 mins from Brighton Pier and similarly The Lanes, Sea Life Centre, etc.

Dear Ellard45,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback following your most recent stay and I am sorry to read that your stay fell below the Hilton standard. The hotel is in the process of refurbishing and redecorating a large number of rooms.

However, I was delighted to read how much you had enjoyed the service from the team here and also our superb breakfast.

The hotel as you say has a great location and with the facilities we provide and refurbishments we have made is a great base from which to explore the local area. Once again, thank you for your feedback and I look forward to having the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

Had a short break in Brighton recently and stayed at the Hilton Metropole. The reason for the visit was for my daughter and friends to go to a concert so we decided to make it an overnight trip.

On arrival, we had a few minutes to wait before we were seen by the very helpful receptionist, who quickly booked us in, supplied us with the key cards and directed us to our rooms asking if we needed help with our bags etc.

The two rooms were located together on the first floor and walking up the grand staircase was impressive which then led to a typical bland hotel corridor. We were not expecting much from the rooms however when we opened the doors we were pleasantly surprised, both rooms were spacious and they had a super king size and a single bed.

Both rooms were immaculately clean, nice shower gels and clean towels supplied. The beds had a plentiful supply of comfortable pillows and the beds were better than the usual hotel fare. Good sized TV with free view and pay per view if required. Tea and coffee making facilities had plenty of the usual sachets and we had fresh milk delivered to the room without asking which was a nice touch.

The building is old and the room was not perfect due to the age, the air con unit was a bit noisy but worked well and the windows did not cancel the noisy pub crowd nearby but overall it provided everything we needed. Some of the furniture was starting to show wear and tear but suited the room perfectly.

Breakfast in the morning was busy and was a typical buffet with a selection of hot and cold food, all of which was perfectly acceptable. We did not have to queue for anything and their was an air of quiet efficiency about the place.

I would be happy to return to the Hilton in Brighton, it is ideal for the concert venue being just a couple of hundred yards away and the beach just across the road.

We are regular visitors to Brighton, fond of it's history, and as our usual hotel was fully booked, we decided to splash out and treat ourselves to a night here. The Hilton is visually very impressive from the outside and the interior is equally grand with it's tall pillars and marble staircase.

The staff were very friendly and professional, making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The room was a little smaller than we were expecting but was lavishly furnished to make the most of the space. The bathroom was a particular highlight as it looked very recently refurbished with modern bowl-type wash basin and tap fixtures. Even the small things like the shampoo/conditioner were of a much higher standard than anywhere else I've stayed in Brighton.

The room was exceptionally clean, and as the kind of guest who pulls bedding apart and drags a finger over the tops of picture frames this is praise indeed.

Like many other hotels in Brighton it is situated right on the sea front and a short walk from the shopping center it's perfect for a young couple on a long weekend.

We would stay here again if a similar situation arose.
