“Nice Grand Hotel, Great Location, Rooms are Fine!”
Reviewed August 17, 2009

Have stayed at the Albion twice now. The first time was on my graduation and I was given a fantastic room on the top floor, which had its own private lounge UPSTAIRS (it was like a duplex). My parents had paid the same amount and a smallish room, but it had a balcony and jacuzzi. The 2nd time I stayed at the Albion, the first room I was given, was in the Attic, and a little dated so I asked to move and was given a large room with jacuzzi and 2nd double bed! As this hotel is so old, and i think it's been made up of 2 or 3 original buildings, all the roms are different (size, decor, jacuzzi, no jaccuzzi, balcony, seperat lounge etc etc) so my advice would be, if you don't like the first room you're given, just ask at reception to be moved! Unless there's an event on in Brighton, I can't see this large hotel being filled to capacity.

Overall though, very good hotel, lovely common areas, staircases, corridors, reception, bar. The only downside, I tried to bring a friend into the hotel for a few post clubbing drinks, but the bouncers, sorry doorstaff, wouldn't let him in, this wasn't amajor issue, we had a few tinnys on the beach instead.

We have just visited the Royal Albion hotel, we stayed for two nights, bed and breakfast.
Before arrived, we read the reviews just a few days before going, I must say we were pleasantly surprised. A lot of reviews painted an awful picture of the hotel, referring to it as a nightmare, we soon realised why the reviews are so bad when we arrived, as all the other guests were proffesional complainers, In the breakfast room, people were moaning that the orange juice was warm, surely there are worse things. The decor was also complained about, but as the hotel was built in 1826, it will look slightly dated, however there is work being done on the building to improve this, we very much enjoyed our stay and the view of the pier from our room was spectacular, the one drawback is the parking situation but other than that, everything was very pleasant for what we paid.

Stayed for one night towards the end of July 2009, visiting an event at the Brighton Dome . This hotel has a fabulous central location adjacent to the pier and The Lanes, also easy walking distance of the Dome. No hotel parking, but there are public car parks locally that are expensive.
The rooms were fine, especially for the price, and the breakfast was OK, nothing special though. Refurbishment of the property is taking place, so would expect newer furnishings etc. in the future, though prices may be increased. We would stay here again, especially if we don't have the car to take care of.

their is nothing wrong with this hotel that a good refurb will put right, yes the bedroom decor is tatty but on the plus side the bed linen was spotless, as were the towels changed everyday and nicely presented the bathroom was clean and yes our shower did work.
the food was very good plenty of choice although the dining room was very hot.
some guests has niggles but these were put right almost immediately.
It is a very large hotel and work is taking place now to improve and update.
I would certainly stay their again,so please do not be put off by the negative reviews.

After asking on the telephone if there was parking for residents and being assured that there was we booked this hotel. We then found out had to park car in the NCP car park which we also had to pay for. Cant remember exactly but think it was about £18 for 2 nights stay which when added on to the hotel price added up a bit. Also inconsiderate shoppers at the NCP scratched our car which we never used in the 2 and a bit days that it was parked up. So would not recommend this hotel if you value your car as theres nowhere to park except in a shoppers car park. As you cant be expected to keep an eye on it and so it gets damaged!!!

I Travelled to this Hotel by train for a three night stay Bed And Breakfast, First impresions were good as i neared the hotel from the town centre side, which looked like a large well kept hotel until you walk around to the seaview side and see it for what it is a run down badly crumbling exterior.
I booked into my Executive Spa room the paper was peeling from the walls and the dressing table was almost baron of any varnish it was dark and very dated And this was the Executive spa room!!!
Discount was given because of the scaffolding on the windows.
Breakfast is a bit of a scramble as there is a shortage of tables.
In the bacement rooms are beang totally gutted and refitted and i personally think the money would of been better soent on tiding up thre rooms.
Please be aware Parking is very Expensive!
