Description: Sabai show's tremendous consistency having won a certificate of excellence award for the last 4 years running. The Thai word Sabai translates simply as relaxed, the perfect description of this Brighton gastrobar where the urban cool of London on Sea is matched to the ethnic charm of the Land of Smiles. Bringing a taste of Phuket's beach bars and Bangkok's most upmarket restaurants to the UK, Sabai is all about chilling out, South East Asian style a fact which is patently clear from the silk floor cushions, cocktail menu and warm, smiling welcome. The deep red and dark wood, gold and green interior is as beautiful as Sabai's freshly cooked, authentic food, MSG free and made using local ingredients where possible and imported Thai herbs and spices where essential. Because everything is made to order, special requests are welcomed.

“Great food, nice staff, good value.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

We dined here on Friday evening before going to show. I have no idea why we have never been before (i'd wrongly assumed it was a dodgy chain) It really is very good. My partner had the dumplings which she loved, and I had the Mussels which came in a really nice broth. My partner had the pad thai. After ordering the waitress came back to double check whether she wanted the normal pad thai or the special which shows good attention, we hadn't spotted the "special". I had the Jungle Curry with Prawns, every bit as hot as it should be! After being spotted mopping my brow the waitress bought me an iced water. This was all washed down with 3 beers and a bottle of wine. Bill total about £75 (for three the other diner also had mussels and the jungle curry hence no mention of additional dishes) The menu is huge and we will return to try some more. There is a lot to choose from, vegans and vegetarians have plenty to choose from too. A real hidden gem.

“Great Thai experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

Thai food was not my favorite until we found this lovely restaurant, we are going there tonight for the third time in 5 weeks. Wonderful food, delightful staff and a great experience. I wouldn't have any doubts in recommending The Sabai. I love Thai food now!

“As good as we hoped for after reading about this place on TA”

This place is centrally located near the Pavillion and the food was excellent. Populare, but we got A table after some negotiations. To Get the bill was the thoughest task.

“WOW! True authenticity and truely "Sabai" - (Eng-Relaxed)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

had one of the best meals i have had ever in a restaurant.... definitely the best Thai food ever hands down. we came here for dinner during as short stay to the Sussex coast and tried here based on the reviews. the restaurant was empty when we arrived and only had a further two tables during our meal. however this did not detract from the relaxed environment..... i hate eating in an empty restaurant. its so uncomfortable! but the decor, environment, Beautiful Friendly Staff, food and anything else you can imagine made this a great dining experience.... We had to start duck smaosas, chcken sui mai dumplings and coconut prawns, all clearly hand made with the prawns being the highlight..... (the smell and texture and taste was exquisite) main was a thick specialty beef curry with lime and holy basil leaves! wow! such taste and explosive flavor without being too hot! the Sabai Pad Thai is simply the best Asian or Thai dish i have ever put in my mouth! strong words for a strongly successful dish and the star of the menu. The staff were beautiful (especially our waitress..... we were the couple with the brother who lives in Pattaya - Thank you!) and humble and genuinely attentive and warm. well done guys and i wish you many continued years of glowing reviews and business. As i type this we are genuinely debating driving down from London right now just to have that Pad Thai again. Rest be assured we most probably will at some point!

“Fabulous flavours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

We decided to eat at the Sabai after seeing the trip advisor rating on the board outside but to be honest we haven't eaten a lot of Thai food so were a little unsure of what to order. Phil the waiter was extremely attentive and helpful and we ordered 'the southern' from the two persons menu and were assured the dishes wouldn't be too fiery. The dishes were really flavoursome and certainly not too hot, we enjoyed a bottle of house sauvignon blanc with our meal and were pleasantly suprised by the whole experience. We will definitely be going for Thai again with a tad more confidence and when we are back visiting in Brighton will certainly be paying another visit to the Sabai. Excellent service, flavours and value for money.
