“8 reasons NOT to leave Brighton:”
Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

1. Indian restaurants like this are rarer than hens teeth in UK.
2. If you want as cuisine in Brighton your going to have to pay the Lanes rental!
3. Authenticity is hard to import; these guys do it effortlessly
4. Ali, our waiter advises through a wonderfully charasmatic yet unsalesy manner.
5. The Goan fish curry was the best since- I was eating fish on a Goan beach!
6. How unpretentious this place is- how refreshing this is.
7. £80 for 4 including wine!!!! Really??
8. Just go; you will so NOT be disappointed!

“Thali tickles the tastebuds.......”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

After a long, long journey for work, we decided that a return visit to Eastern Eye for lunch would be just the ticket. We weren't wrong - what a good idea that turned out to be! After chatting to another diner, and on his recommendation, we opted for the chicken thali, one of the lunch specials, for £5.95 a pop. We each had chicken curry, vegetable dish, tarka dal, rice, mango chutney and half a poppadom. This was a mini feast of delicious food and flavours which we both thoroughly enjoyed.
As per our previous visits, the welcome was warm, service friendly and efficient, and enjoyed lovely spicy food.
We will obviously return soon for some more authentic Indian grub (we must try the dosa) and thoroughly recommend anyone to try this brilliant restaurant.

“You want wonderfully authentic South Indian food? Look no further...”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

We walked past this restaurant a number of times before being tempted in by the promise of masala dosa on the menu: a dish you will only find in south Indian restaurants, which are few and far between – even in London. Alright, the facade of the restaurant isn't that impressive but then London Road isn't exactly the most salubrious of locations. And admittedly, the decor isn't likely to feature in Wallpaper magazine, but the warm welcome and aromas emanating from the kitchen more than make up for it. Staff are very attentive and yes, the menu has typos a go-go, but when you taste the food all shortcomings pale into insignificance. Before I continue to wax lyrical I must confess we're vegetarian and have spent time travelling throughout the sub-continent as well as eating at most Indian veg restaurants in London ( Drummond St, Tooting, Southall, Brick Lane etc.) and for us this ranks up there with the best of them when it comes to flavour. Particularly the starters. Can't vouch for the meat dishes, but typically, when friends sampled our veg version of a dish they preferred it. BTW The Cobra beer's very long and very cold. But ssh... keep it to yourself: we're talking Brighton's best kept secret here!

“Eastern Eye”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Ate here with friends last week. No real complaints about the food. It was fine. Was quite cheap so value for money. However one thing i have to mention was the various spelling mistakes on the menu, larger instead of lager for example, which were crossed out and corrected in biro! Why don't they just make new menus? Touches like that don't inspire confidence. Meal was ok though and no complaints.
