I've been here a few times, most recently for my birthday with a crowd of friends. From the outset (this being when I rang to book) the owner was extremely helpful, guiding me with a choice of table options as there were quite a few of us. My guest numbers changed a couple of times before the actual evening and he was more than accommodating.
The food is fantastic and very good value. There's often the danger of vegetarian curries tasting quite similar - this is certainly not the case with Planet India. The aubergine curry, the black chickpea and the peas paneer are simply delicious and the samosas are the nicest I've had (better even than those at another very highly regarded Brighton Indian restaurant, not to mention far easier on the pocket!)
The location is not fantastic, but once inside the homely and eccentric surroundings, you instantly forget that you're on Richmond Parade. If I could find one criticism, it's that they don't serve teas or coffees for after your meal. A couple of my friends felt this too. Perhaps a big flask of chai on the counter might be an idea? Teas served with Indian sweets?
Very much looking forward to my next visit. Keep up the good work!
