“Expensive, old and tired but in good location”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2012

We stayed for 2 days in a double room at the front of the hotel. The room is tired and no particular decoration, old table, dirty carpet and dirty window. The toilet small and every time anyone flashed, there were some weird noises. 120 per night was definitely not worth; maye half this money. Breakfast was again ok, small and not good quality.. Two redeeming factors: the bed was really comfortable and the staff were really nice. Unfortunately. I Would not go there again...

Room Tip: Maybe go for the superior rooms. Also ask for a room at the back if the noise affects you.

We had a lovely mid-week stay. The location is great and within easy walking distance of all Brighton's main attractions. All the staff were friendly and helpful, Breakfast was good with a wide choice and everything was freshly cooked to order. We stayed in Pavilion, a superior room, and were impressed with the facilities on offer.
The only downsides were:
Parking - we took our car out for a trip to Beachy Head and struggled to get a space in the street on our return - this is obviously out with the control of the B & B but might be something that influences peoples choice of accommodation.
Fire alarm - this went off at 6.45am on our first morning, apparently due to a guest in one of the smaller rooms making tea. Perhaps the kettle needs to be moved?
Stairs- No problem if you're fit but less able guests might want to specifically request a ground floor room.
TV - for some reason we could only get 2 channels, BBC 1 & 2, however we tended to use the DAB radio more anyway.
Overall we were very happy and would certainly stay at Kempfield House on our next trip to Brighton.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear of the building and had no problems with noise.

Great location opposite the pier. Nice welcome by the lady at the front desk. Main hall nice and clean. The room was big enough with a en suite shower, Telly hair dryer and iron provided. Really comfy bed.
The rooms need updating a bit but in general clean enough.

I emailed before hand asking if i could check in early, This was not possible but they texted me this and said i could leave my luggage with them.Which i thought was anice touch texting me.

I would book again.

Nice big room. A bit dated with wallpaper hanging off the wall and in need of some fresh paint. Nice touches include bottles of water in fridge and cans of coke all complementary. However the diet coke cans we where given where both out of date by 3 months. Overall you can see they are trying hard but not quite there yet

My and my husband stayed here for a weekend for celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary, we stayed in one of the superior rooms which was located on the ground floor, breakfast was served on the lower ground and had buffet selection of juices, tea, coffee, cereals, fruit and croissants, you could also order cooked breakfast from a menu included vegetarian sausages which were a plus for me, also provided is toast!! the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is at a good location, close to the seafront and the brighton wheel.
we throughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend kempfield house.

Room Tip: I would advise a superior room as its where we stayed, very spacious and very comfy pillows.

My friend and I stayed at Kempfiled House on a Saturday night for a college reunion. The location is fantastic - a few yards from the seafront, pier and aquarium. We arrived in time for a seafront stroll and lunch (plenty of good restaurants within walking distance), and were welcomed by the hotel's two lovely Labradors. The twin room was functional rather than luxurious but was very well equipped, with the added touch of a small bottle of red wine. The bathroom was a large wetroom and obviously brand new, with good quality toiletries provided. Breakfast was excellent! Serve yourself cereal, fruit and juice bar followed by full English breakfast cooked to order, with high quality sausage (many a breakfast is ruined by cheap sausage). Service was friendly and efficient.

The only issue was the noise from outside. The combination of the ground floor front position of the room and the great central location of the hotel, meant that the noise from people rolling out of local hostelries seemed to go on all night. But this is a minor quibble - overall we found Kempfield House to be a great choice for our single nights stay in Brighton

We arrived quite late on a Sunday evening but it was no problem because Chris the proprietor had phoned us at home in the morning and provided the door entry code. We even managed to park right outside. In the street and collected our £10 permits in the morning. Our room was a lovely surprise, it had a big four poster bed and a beautiful extra large comfortable sofa. We appreciated the free wine, coke and water provided in the fridge in the room and the peanuts, we were starving as it was so late. Luckily, the Hotel is situated directly opposite a very good Italian restaurant and brilliant ice cream bar on the corner, lots of other local restaurants, shops and cafes. The Brighton big wheel is at the end of the road, handy landmark after a long walk along the seafront.
Friendly, helpful staff and very good breakfast, plenty of choice and freshly prepared. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room
