“Perfect location”

Facilities were basic, but in working order. We were warned of possible noise disturbance from the street, but it was surprisingly quiet at night. Fairly cheap and cheerful, but ideally located for the whole of Brighton. Lovely bed.

Have been to this hotel before and returned last week (11-16/8/14) for a 5 night stay because of its very convenient position to train station, seafront, pier and all other attractions.
10 minutes from train station, slight incline when returning to station.
Room was clean and very comfy, no problems with fittings.
Agree that room can get a bit hot if window closed to shut out noise (we were on side facing the Revolution pub/club opposite which was a bit noisy late on Thurs and Fri nights but not excessive).
Work being carried out to improve/repair parts of the reception while I was there which was not intrusive.
Only criticism was that the right hand of the two lifts did not go directly to the eighth floor every time it was used by our friends who had a room there, had to get out on seventh then use stairs or other lift.
Read a couple of the other reviews done recently re parking and cost.
RE the one about air con and price- book early and pay less, cost us less than £200 for 5 nights because we booked a couple of months ago, air con would only add price to cost of room and in a basic hotel do you really need it?
Re parking- Travelodge clearly state in their web site that there is no parking facility at the hotel but nearby public parking is available but that it is quite costly. There is a taxi layby next to the front door of the hotel which can be used for brief stops to unload bags.
Will be using this hotel again when visiting relatives who live in Brighton.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the front of the hotel can be a bit noisy later at night when pubs/clubs are open

For my hen weekend we stayed at this travel lodge, the location is absolutely perfect, everything we needed was in a short walking distance so no need for cabs. It is next door to a big club so not sure how i'd feel about that if i'd been on a family trip but for us it was perfect. Staff were all friendly and helpful, they put all of us on the same floor without it being requested which is obviously desirable when travelling together.
In one of the rooms we had the fuse blew so my friends were unable to use the electric appliances but they offered us free late check out so we was happy about that.
Rooms were basic but clean. Would definately recommend this hotel for hen/stags or people in brighton to go drinking and clubbing.

Talk about misleading. Our 'newly refurbished room' had clearly been missed off the list. Tiny room, dirty bathroom, skirting coming away from the wall. Very very hot and sweaty with no air con (but were told in the morning that we could have had a fan! ) all for the bargain price of £149 for one night. Should have gone to the Grand for £30 extra. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

There isn't anywhere to stop and unload your gear but we managed to stop in front of a roller door around the corner. My wife wheeled our gear in and was told the only parking was GBP 25 at the end of the side street. She took our gear up to the room and then again quizzed the older man on reception if GBP 25 was really the only option. He said that on-street parking was too difficult and that it was only free parking from 9pm to 8am. After some more prodding she was told that we could get the hotel to validate the GBP 25 parking and get a 20% discount.

She came back to the car and we went for a drive and found that 1/2 mile away up the beach there is 4 hour parking for GBP 3 and that the free parking was actually 8pm to 9am so at 6pm we were paid up until 11am for GBP 3 as the time goes around until the maximum 4 hours is reached excluding the free time. That was in Waterloo Street to the West.

A street further on is Brunswick Square where the maximum is 2 hours for GBP 2 so if you are leaving early that will do fine too. You need to look for the signs that say residents only OR pay parking not just residents only unless you only want to park 8pm to 9am when that will do fine too. Don't you think it strange that an Australian is telling you this.

The room was a good size. There is no air-cond and no opening windows and it was super hot (mid July) but you can get a fan from reception. There is no fridge and as part of their budget tactics they also don't provide a bathmat, you are expected to have wet feet on the tiles. How this isn't a safety issue I don't know.

Internet is free for 30 min then GBP 3 and after 2 months in Europe it is the first time we have had to pay for internet. Anyway make sure you find the little streets with heaps of restaurants and go for a walk on the beach and pier and don't expect too much from Travelodge. Lucky we only had booked one night.

We stayed here from 10th-16th August 2014.
First impressions were 'oh dear, what have we done'. The reception area was very basic and dated but the staff were lovely and friendly and helpful. We asked for a room on high floor as advised by other reviewers and asked for a fan. Both were given with no problems. We were in room 716.
The room itself was quite small and dark as there was only a small window with thick net curtains, but we just pulled them back as the only things able to look in our window would have been the seagulls lol! Oh, and we had a sea view as well. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, tv was a bit of a let down ( not a lot of channels), bathroom had been refurbished with non slip flooring and nice red tiles with clean white grouting. Room service was exceptional, if we left a 'do not disturb' sign on door, we would find a pile of clean towels, a bag of coffee, tea, sugar etc and at least one toilet roll left outside the door for us.
Breakfast was good, selection of cereals, fruit, toast, hot food and drinks every morning and you just helped yourself.
As for all the gripes about noise from clubs nearby, when our window was closed we never heard a thing and what do you expect if you choose to stay in the middle of clubland??? We also never experienced any groups of young people hanging round the doors of the hotel.
The staff were all lovely and although the place could do with a major refurb, it was cheap and cheerful and in a great location for getting out and about.
Only thing I would say is that without the fan in our room, am not sure I could have stayed there for too long as it was very warm and stuffy in our room when we closed our window.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the top of the hotel if you want a bit of peace and quiet. We were in room 716 w...

Booked two rooms for two nights for myself, my husband and two daughters, which was £550. After traveling 3 hours to get there we were greeted with a dirty, tiny room with the shower hanging off the wall. We did complain and the staff moved us to another room equally as dirty, stank of stale smoke and had discusting stains all over the walls and ceiling. I have attached the pictures of our view, which consisted of hundreds of fag butts, beer cans and a pair of pants that someone had previously thrown out of the window! The towels were dirty, covered in stains and smelt of smokey bacon crisps! This is a hotel I wouldn't recommend and hope we never have the misfortune of having to wasted £550 to go there again!!!
