Description: Considered by many to be Brighton's best restaurant, backed up by its status as the highest scoring local dining room in the Good Food Guide, The Restaurant at Drakes is an elegantly stylish setting for any occasion. Subtle lighting casts moody shadows across exposed brickwork and rich colours throughout the intimate dining room while Drakes cocktail bar offers airy sea views and excellent cocktails. The kitchen team insist on the best of ingredients, fresh and seasonal, including fish bought daily from local fishing boats, to create the excellent, refined menu that has earned the restaurant two AA rosettes. A special place, unpretentious in its warm atmosphere, it's easy to see why The Restaurant at Drakes has such a reputation.

We selected one of the tasting menus and it was really enjoyable. The staff were really friendly. The restauarant is quite intimate yet relaxed. The staff recommended a lovely little bar around the corner for an after dinner drink and it was perfect (although I can't remember it's name!!). I found the meal to be great value for money.

There are sadly a lot of very mediocre places in brighton (gingerman, moshi moshi, chilli pickle, hotel du vin) even the ones that are very brighton (terre a terre). So to find a restaurant that can actually serve a good meal was such a relief. It wasnt amazing, or necessarily special. But if in the area I am in no doubt that this place is the best restaurant.

Sadly the staff in the restaurant do not match up to the staff in the hotel. The only good member the evening I went was a blond tall lady. The others were awkward. Sometimes very awkward.

A couple of things on the menu didn't match up to the season sadly. Especially my dessert which was filled with christmas flavours at the beginning of summer. And a recommended wine was an utter waste of a glass - it didn't match. And the house biodynamic champagne is worth avoiding.

Popped in for dinner whilst visiting Brighton, met with a warm welcome, immediately made to feel special. We have visited many times before and are always excited about stopping by.

We booked in for an early start, 7pm, were greeted, served drinks, shown downstairs to our table and had placed our order by 19:15, eating our Appetiser by 19:20. Swift, professional but friendly service, perfectly timed and expertly performed.

Duck Rillette Appetiser with Fig Chutney, flavourful, perfectly formed, sliced with precision, lovely toast, lovely chutney.

I had the Pressed Tongue Terrine to start, which was a new experience to me, it was very nice, well thought out and balanced, beautifully presented and served with, without a doubt, the absolute best Picallilli I've ever had. I want the recipie...

My partner had the Crab Ravioli, as did pretty much everyone else who ate that night it seems! Lovely fresh tastes, soft pasta, flavourful, with a spicy broth, which surprised my fiancée as She's not that big a fan of spicey food, but she loved it.

Mains: I had the trio of pork, always amazing, pig heaven, if it's on the menu when you visit, try it, you wont be disappointed. My partner had the Angus Fillet, gorgeous, perfectly cooked, everything you could possibly want from a steak, and more.

Desserts: My partner had the Marscapone Brûlée, which she loved (again) but found a little heavy with the prunes and ice cream. I had to try the Peanut Souffle with Salted Caramel Ice Cream... Absolutely magic. Pure showing off, perfect flavours, perfect souffle.

We also enjoyed the Pre-Dessert of Chocolate Millefuelle with Chantilly Cream!

Another fantatic night, 10/10, next time we'll stay the night and keep the bar busy too.

Hats off guys, keep up the great work.
