We visit Brighton regularly and whenever we visit we always pay a visit to La Capannina. The food is consistently good and we have never had a bad meal. The only criticism is that service can be very quick so a leisurely meal is never really an option!

This is a small family-run restaurant with slightly dated decor and furnishings but what it lacks in style and sophistication, it certainly makes up for with the food. Excellent and authentic a la carte and specials offerings and very nice and friendly staff. Much better than many of the chain Italian places that Brighton has to offer and certainly better than Jamie's or Bill's, both extremely overrated in my view.

Would definitely recommend this lovely family run restaurant. It was our second trip to Brighton and our second visit to La Capannina. Whilst the food on the second visit was as delicious as the first, the restaurant was very busy and we had to sit downstairs. Spoilt it a bit as there was no atmosphere (or windows) but the food was lovely. Just make sure you book before you go!

We popped in for a quick lunch, having a hankering for pasta in preference to a pub lunch. Small pleasant interior with a family feel and genuine Italian staff. The main menu was pretty much as you’d expect but we both had the same dish from the specials board, a clam and seafood pasta which was pretty good – the other specials looked equally as inviting and in fact I saw one I would have had but failed to notice until after we’d finished. We had a half litre carafe of the vino della casa which was very good and not pricy. To end up my wife had the cassata and I had the semi freddo I thought the latter was excellent but my other half didn’t think the cassata was as good as we’ve had in another Brighton Italian. Very quick and efficient service and good value for money. We would probably both return on the basis of the quality and the interesting selections on the specials board.
