“Best hotel in Brighton - we always come back”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

My boss and I frequently stay in Brighton (3-6 times a month) and we always stay at Artist Residence. Lucy and Naomi and all the other staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and will always do anything to make our stay the best possible.

I have stayed in most of the rooms and I can honestly say there isn't one I dislike. Each is unique but all are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfast is always superb with fresh, local produce in the lovely gallery.

I always recommend friends and colleagues to stay here when they're visiting Brighton as I know you can't find a better hotel, especially for the very low cost, and I always know they won't be disappointed. So far everyone I've recommended to stay here has loved it too, from friends in their early 20s to older business men! You really can't go wrong.

I loved everything.
Very comfortable, had everything we needed and spotless, breakfast is exquisite, you can not stop eating, it was all great.
But most of all I have to emphasize the care, service was excellent, at the reception they received with you always sonrrisa and serving breakfast the same,
Neus, the girl who served us breakfast and we opened the door the first night, is a lovely person, Thanks for everything and everything goes really well.

We enjoyed our 1 night staying would recommend this hotel,

The hotel is in a good location and an easy walk from the train station. If you travel by car there is an underground public car park directly outside the hotel. We had chosen to stay in room 3 which has a fantastic view of the sea and the remains of west pier. It also has access to a small balcony with seating which was great to sit on on a warm evening with a bottle of wine.

The room is small but good for a short stay. Tea and coffee, shampoos and a hair drier are all provided. The bathroom was tiny but very clean.

We booked on the hotel website so our breakfast was included in our room price, this is not included if you book elsewhere. I have noted that there are some complaints about breakfast not being worth the money but I would completely disagree. There was a selection of cereals, juices, tea and coffee as well as a menu from which you can select a main breakfast item. The pancakes were great as were the bacon and scrambled eggs. The coffee was excellent. The breakfast room is bright and airy and has morning papers avaliable to read.

This hotel has a lot of character and we would definitely return.

My experience at Artist Residence in March 2013 was simply WOW! Everything was really great: people who welcomed us, the breakfast prepared especially for us, the beautiful room we chose. I love art and, therefore, I love Artist Residence!

Having lived in Brighton a few years ago, I knew I wanted to stay in a hotel that epitomised Brighton in its décor, location and people. This hotel achieved all three with complete ease. I stayed in the Jamie Brown room (no.2) for two nights which has a balcony view of the West Pier - very nice to wake up to :) The room was of a great standard with a nice (cruise theme) en-suite.
The breakfast room is filled with an eclectic collection of tables and chairs and the food served is great (I recommend the pancakes!). I also recommend taking a little tour or the hotel as there are plenty of art pieces to both stimulate and amuse.
However, as with any hotel there is always room for improvement. My only criticism is that the WiFi signal was very weak/non-existent. I had to use my mobile phone most of the time if I wanted to access the internet.
Although the internet was a let down I would not hesitate to stay here on my next visit.

We would love for you to come and stay with us again some time. We offer a 10% discount to returning guests, and you will be pleased to know that in the last few days we have had brand new internet installed, solving the weak signal issue!

We stayed in room B2 which I highly recommend for a family with young children. Family rooms are generally pretty depressing (lots of beds in a row - yuk!), however this one is thoughtfully laid out. L shaped room with double bed at one end and children at the narrower end - one bunk bed and one single. We were able to turn out the children's lights and get them to sleep while we read. Nice bathroom with a big corner bath and shower.

Room was spotlessly clean with lux linen and towels. Very gracious lady on reception, helpful without being intrusive. The art throughout is fab, lots of little touches that raise this above the average hotel.

Breakfast was delicious, esp the pancakes. Book directly and you get breakfast thrown in, otherwise is an additional £7.50/head.

Easy walk to the pier and lanes. Would happily stay here again.

We went for a mid week break, had a triple room painted by Matt Sewell. Great artwork, very comfortable bed, plenty of space. Clean and tidy through out. Breakfast was nice although small choice for cooked options. Friendly staff. We will stay again and recommend it to friends. Great thai round the corner Siam Siam.
