We visited the Tea Cosy as part of a rather civilised hen do in Brighton. As visitors from the north, quaint afternoon tea is somewhat of a novelty for us, and the Tea Cosy really put a smile on our faces! Yes the hostess/waitress/owner? Isn't exactly cheerful (however she certainly wasn't rude), but the atmosphere was great, and the decor really does make the place special. We had varying items off the menu, some HUGE and delicious slabs of Carrot cake, and copious amounts of tea (Yorkshire naturally) and the bill came to £30 for 4 of us. Considering this was more than enough food for lunch and we were that full we considered a nap afterwards - I'd say that was a good deal! Would definitely return for the novelty factor, if you're looking for knock-your-socks off food then no this place won't be for you, but if you want basics done perfectly fine with added fun factor then I urge you to give the Tea Cosy a chance.

Treated my family to High Tea to celebrate my birthday, Jackie was a wonderful host and catered for our vegetarian needs regarding the sandwiches. The cakes were superb and those we could not manage to finish were carefully wrapped up for us to take away. The shop is unique and full of antiques and curios which adds to the experience. Would highly recommend this place for all occasions.

What a super little place. Lovely food. Service was top notch. Ignore the negative reviews and pop along to this place. It's small so you have to expect it to be busy. We went on a friday afternoon and spent about two hours there. Cakes to die for. Quirky, fun, retro and amusing. If you like starbucks you may not like this place, but if you have a personality and want to try something a bit out of the ordinary then go here!!! Try to sit on the little two seater sofa, as this is in the middle of the room and you get a great view of all the bits and bobs...will go back soon for sure as I want to support places like this rather than mainstream corporate personality-lacking venues.

Everyone should be a bit more eccentric... It would make the world a more interesting place.

My sister and I just popped in for tea and crumpets, having been recommended and we were not disappointed. A proper English tea shop. Lovely atmosphere and we could have sat for hours looking at the Royal memorabilia and old adverts. Well worth a visit. We can't wait to return!
