We recently stayed at the Kemptown house. On arrival, you are welcomed into a beautifully decorated hallway and shown to your room. Our room was comfy king and it was absolutely stunning. Complemetary port and prosecco included in our amazon deal price. Wifi was very fast which I was surprised at. The location of the hotel is not far from perfect, just down the road from the pier and the wheel. There are also lots of pubs and restaurants just at the top of the road.

The facilities in the room were perfect for us and the fact that you could get fresh milk in your room was a bonus!

Breakfast was perfect, nothing to fault. The selection that they offer is huge also.

Kenny is a real asset to the hotel and couldn't do enough for us during our stay.

I have already told my friends and family about the hotel and cannot wait to visit again!

Thanks :O)

Brief Saturday night stya to attend function at Royal Pavilion, a short walk away. We had the tiny room at about £100 for the night - satisfactory, though cramped as advertised & expected - only room for one to change at a time (it was the only room available). Was expecting lovely bijou charm... entrance hall is a litle tired. Cafetiere supplied, but only instant coffee. Comfortable bed - noisy seagulls not the management's responsibility. Sunday breakfast late start 09:00, but waited for it because reported as highlight. Very nicely laid out, good choice of cereals and delicious croissants (better than Waitrose); divine smoothie. Orange juice from concentrate, I fear; eggs benedict & royale a slight disappointment, not very hot, poached eggs seemed to have been pre-cooked in cling film and I'm sure the hollandaise was out of a jar. (OK I keep chickens and am very fastidious about how to poach an egg).

Room Tip: Small room OK if you want only to sleep and hit the town. Avoid hollandaise & poached egg-based...

Dear Giles,

Thank you for taking the time to feed back your comments and I'm sorry that you were disappointed with our breakfast offering. For the sake of clarification, all of our eggs are locally sourced, free-range and cooked to order (as is everything on our breakfast menu); No eggs are pre-cooked in any way. The hollandaise sauce is also freshly made every morning using only egg yolks, melted butter, mustard and a splash of vinegar and any that is unused is thrown away at the end of the breakfast service so is pretty much as fresh as you can get. However, I'm sure that compared to newly-laid eggs these may well have tasted a little different!

I do hope that we will have the pleasure of seeing you again next time you come to Brighton.

Best wishes,

Paul.

We found the Kemp Townhouse on laterooms.com and just booked based on the high guest rating (verified on tripadvisor). This was a single night away with the other half before the Easter madness.

Staff greeting was very friendly, and we spent the day shopping while the room was made ready. The room itself was large and comfortable and the emperor sized four poster was a real gem! The room included all the usual trappings, as well as a Nespresso machine, complimentary port and a wet room. The wet room itself was fun to use, but not overly practical - not something I'd rush to put in my house.

Breakfast was great with the range and quality of food very high indeed. No complimentary smoothie for us, but I think the waitress was very busy.

Room rates appeared quite high and we probably wouldn't have booked direct.

Overall we were most impressed with the Kemp Townhouse and would recommend to family and friends alike without any hesitation.

Recently returned from a perfect 2 night break in this little jewel of a guesthouse with only 9 rooms but a great style and lovely staff. We did have a very good deal, for a weekdays , out of season, 2 nighter, but would certainly return, and accept paying a slightly higher rate to get such outstanding levels of food , furnishings and the sheer attention to detail this place provides. Delightful touches in the room, good quality , big bath towels, complimentary extras, from the port decanter to the smellies , EVERYTHING was just as you would have wanted, and it ALL WORKED! Paul and his team made our stay a real pleasure, nothing too much trouble, and the use of the guest lounge, in the evenings with dimmed lighting, soft music and comfy sofas, plus bowls of free peanuts, was a pleasant bonus. Our room was a compact double, so the guest lounge gave us another option . Clearly the room was small, but reflected in the price we paid, which was fair. For a longer stay, I would pay more and choose a bigger double. We certainly hope to return soon. Brighton must have a huge number of places to stay but Kemp Townhouse is outstanding. We also discovered the FREE Brighton Greeter service! Book in advance through the Tourist Board, they will match you with a person who tries to take you to places of interest you might not otherwise find. We had a great guy , who gave us over 3 hours personalised tour of the town, and who was not only well informed but humerous. A great free service.

Room Tip: Ask the hotel direct for "best price " on one of the larger rooms. Wet rooms are an aquire...

Stayed in the room at the top of hotel which has a 4 poster and a ginormous bath. I came on business as was so pleased that i didnt stay in a faceless chain. It was wonderful decadence. A decanter of port set aside and beautiful attention to detail. Extremely clean and really hospitable staff. Breakfast - a beat choice ranging from traditional English to eggs benedict to yummy pancakes. Wonderfully sourced food even the tea and coffee in the rooms weren't the usual.
Finally away from the hustle and bustle of the main town centre yet a nice walk in to Brighton.

We stayed here on a last minute whim, as we were on our way home after two nights in Brighton, but loved it so much, we didn't want to leave.
After discovering Kemp Town was the area of Brighton we liked the most, we did some research on laterooms, and thought the price being offered was the most reasonable. Rather than booking through laterooms, we called Paul direct and asked if he would be able to match the price, which he was more than happy to do.
We had a cosy double, which really was cosy... Not small, but really homely and cute.
It was the little things that made all the difference here. Paul was such a lovely person, and nothing was too much trouble. Every member of staff we came into contact with was lovely. As it is a small hotel, it really felt like a kind of home away from home with the added luxuries and indulgences, which, for the price, we really weren't expecting.
There were home made buscuits with the expensive teas in the room, plus a Cafetière, which was brilliant.
As it was a freezing February, the heating was amazing. Our previous hotel was lovely, but just too cold. This really was toastie & warm!
The toiletries were expensive and beautiful, so much so, when we came home, I ordered some more from the internet.
The next morning, we had to open the window as we had over indulged on the heating. We were right next to the breakfast room, so we thought it was fellow guests enjoying the morning. In fact, the chatting was coming from the staff in the kitchen... This was definately not a negative. If the window was closed we couldn't hear a thing. It was lovely to hear the staff. They were baking buscuits for the rooms. They were so happy and cheerful, you could tell that they really enjoyed their job, and were really happy, which rubbed off on us!
Even though we were right next to the breakfast room, we were late for breakfast as we had a late night the previous evening, and we were extremely lazy! The staff didn't seem to care how late we were, and were amazing! There were lovely pastries, home made yoghurt with fruit compote, every cereal & musli you could wish for, and the menu was fabulous. When the wairess came in with two shot glasses we were surprised. She explained that it was a fresh rasberry smoothie, which was probably the best smoothie I had ever tasted!
What were the negatives? Mainly that we didn't pay full price for the room, and that we didn't stay longer! Well done! Thanks Paul & Co for a lovely stay. We will be back at Easter!

I stayed at the fantastic Kemp Town House with my daughter. The B & B was wonderful, staff very attentive nothing was a problem. The room was outstanding, very clean and spacious. We enjoyed our complimentary port and home made biscuits in our room. The bed was so comfortable I wanted to stay in it all day! Our breakfast was very tasty, freshly made to order and worth the short wait, we took full advantage of the fayre on offer. We were very sorry to leave but have done so feeling rested and well looked after. Cant wait to come back!
