Kemp Townhouse

We stayed here for two nights as a romantic getaway and were thoroughly impressed. The staff were professional yet friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was spectacular and served to the room if requested. We had egg benedict and pancake with caramelized banana. We stay in a lot of B&Bs and this was one of the best. The room (a cosy double) was not massive but it was perfectly formed. Very sleek design. It felt like a real treat. Fantastic and friendly atmosphere in the local pubs as well. Kemp Town itself has a much more chilled feeling than much of the rest of Brighton and if you don't want to it is not necessary to venture far from your room to find super bars and restaurants! All in all - a perfect romantic break.

It is extremely rare for me to be motivated enough to write a review though I have stayed at literally hundreds of hotels.

On this occasion I would like to make an exception. I was a little nervous about my stay having read a couple of unkind reviews on trip advisor and was nervous about straying from the established 5 star brands. In the end , I am so glad I did. My experience at KTH was excellent at every stage. I consider myself to be pretty discerning , having stayed in probably 20 of the top 100 hotels of the world, so hard won praise. Well done , see you next time I am in Brighton, ( in two weeks) , regards,

Having searched through many mixed reviews of hotels in Brighton, we eventually chose Kemp Townhouse,as most of the reviews were really positive. We were after a comfortable and stylish
place to stay for three nights and felt that overall, we made the right choice.
We had chosen a comfy King which was at the rear of the building, so views weren't up to much, but we had a lovely comfy bed and plenty of room for luggage etc. The wet room, as opposed to shower room, did get very wet and it was a bit of a tight squeeze. Shame it couldn't be made any larger.
Breakfasts were lovely and made to order. This did mean that we waited a while but as we were not in a rush, we didn't mind.Other reviewers found this to be a problem if needing a quick checkout in the morning. We found that the staff were really friendly and helpful (our fresh milk was taken to a fridge in the kitchen and a note left to call for someone to bring it back to our room when making drinks!) and we had some lovely chats with the breakfast staff.
The decor in the room and breakfast/dining room was beautiful and very well maintained (exactly as seen on their website) but the street outside may have put some people off as some properties were in need of some tidying and renovation.
If we visited Brighton again,we would certainly stay there again but next time we would try the larger rooms as they had sea views and had better facilities. Obviously, they are more expensive but probably worth the extra.
Brighton itself receives mixed reviews from us...Laines are lovely,as is the beach but lots of ropey areas with peeling paint and litter.

Room Tip: Look to choose the larger rooms...the 2 four poster front rooms look great but the double rooms are...

part in our good impressions of the City. We stayed in the four poster room on the third floor which was a good size and well maintained. The wet room and separate loo were functional, though both tight on space. Fine for a long weekend but probably a tad frustrating for a longer stay. Other minor quibbles would be the lack of drawer space in the room and lack of a light in the large wardrobe which made finding clothes a bit of a luck dip each day.

All of the staff were helpful and courteous and checking in and out were both pain free. Help with our heavy luggage up the stairs was much appreciated! We had mixed experiences of breakfast. On the positive side, all of the food is excellent – well sourced and well cooked. There is a good mix of cold buffet and excellent range of hot dishes, including plenty of vegetarian options. On the down side, given everything is cooked fresh, it isn't a meal to rush and we got caught out on our last day when after 40 minutes, our cooked breakfasts still hadn't arrived (in spite of us ensuring we were the first people down for breakfast so not caught in a queue) and we had to miss out in order to get our taxi to the station. My advice - if you need to eat in under an hour, let them know.

Though the experience above left us feeling a little deflated after what had been an excellent trip, it wouldn't stop us staying again. We definitely prefer boutique places to big, traditional chains and, location-wise, Kemp Townhouse is well placed for a range of local bars and restaurants as well as an easy walk in to the main town.

Room Tip: The web site gives very good, accurate descriptions of rooms. Some are very small. If this is a pr...

This is a lovely hotel, it was recommended to me Mark, the owner at the Bull Inn in Wimborne St Giles, where I stayed the night before.

The rooms is very comfortable and tastefully decorated, not huge but certainly big enough and with everything you need. Location is great, down a quiet street but round the corner from the coast and a short walk from lots of bars and restaurants. It's very quiet in the room, with or without the window open, so you're guaranteed a good nights sleep.

The freebies where a very good touch, included a decanter of port, biscuits, and mini marshmallows with the hot chocolate! Minor point was that the kettle lead was too short for it to sit on the table, but that's hardly a major failing...

In general, I'd say it's good value considering the central location and the quality of the room.

All in all, a pleasure to stay in, and if (when!) I return to Brighton I'd like to stay there again.

We attended a wedding in Brighton and we were lucky enough to stay in this wonderful bijou hotel with some of our family and friends. From the start we were made to feel we were at an amazing house party. The atmosphere was extremely convivial from the warm welcome given by Paul who could not have been more helpful. The rooms were elegantly appointed and our bedroom 201 particularly lovely. The bed and bed linen were lovely and the attention to detail in the decanter of port was a lovely touch.
Breakfast was a treat and I can understand how they have won awards for this. Food was beautifully presented with a very wide range of choices.
Although we like to try out new places to stay when we travel, we will come back to the lovely Kemp Townhouse again.

Room Tip: Bedrooms at the front with a side sea view 201 and 301
