Description: Located on Paston Place in the heart of Kemp Town village, Sam's of Brighton is a stone's throw from the Brighton Pier and the Marina. Sister restaurant to Sam's of Sevendials in the heart of Brighton, this chic and elegant family-owned bistro - with an understated neutral colour scheme, wooden floors and deco-inspired lamps - is popular with a fashionable local crowd. Sam's serves classic yet creative dishes made from the finest seasonal ingredients, and the restaurant's award-winning menu features favourites such as the Shetland rope-grown mussels with spiced coconut, vanilla, and red peppers; roast rabbit loin served with soft polenta and savoy cabbage; and the rice pudding with blood orange for dessert. Sam's also has an excellent selection of both old and new world wines, many available by the glass and carafe. Sam's of Brighton was voted "Runner Up BEST UK NEWCOMER" by the Harden's Guide 2010.

Ate at Sam's early evening last week. Food is classically English and very well cooked. Had holumi cheese to start followed by chicken. Hubby had beef carpaccio followed by steak. All very tasty. Service excellent...two young friendly girls who handled a difficult customer very well. The restaurant itself felt unfinished....no blinds on the window which allowed those in flats opposite to watch us eat which was a bit disconcerting but easily fixed. Highly recommend but a little attention to the decor would make this an even better place.

Sunday lunch, you want traditional and your guests may want something a bit more fancy. I checked that they could cater for a coeliac. They could and they did.

Table of four, one had traditional and we had specials. All cooked very well, hot an served with a smile. Good wine list. Only comment that tables are a bit close, but who can blame them?

A good experience, delightful food, good service and reasonable wine list too

Our first visit to Sam's - we went for the early evening option as we have children. What a welcome change from Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge! Wonderful food - seafood tagliatelle was exceptional. Very friendly and helpful Australian waiter who made us extremely welcome - worried that we might be rushed along as table was needed later (this has happened to us twice at the Ginger restaurants) but this wasn't the case. Couldn't fault food nor service and will definitely recommend.
