Having eaten at several other YO! Sushi restaurants, we had never eaten at the Brighton outlet.

On arrival we were second in the queue and a member of staff told us that she would be with us shortly, which was better than not being acknowledged. My wife and I prefer to eat in the booths if one is available and we were seated at the 'lower' booth.

Staff advised us that the service button wasn't working, which isn't great. One would have thought that we would have got more 'walk-bys' or service checks in case we wanted to order any hot dishes. Sadly, in almost an hour and a half we didn't get one service check.

It's not just the service button which needs some investment here. The lower booth is adjacent to the potwash area which is open to the customers. It would be far better if the current opening is closed and a new one created to the potwash area in the corridor to the toilets. Speaking of which...

The disabled toilet on 16th November was out of order and taped up like a building site. Doesn't look great and needs dealing with.

I ordered beef tataki which didn't arrive. I thought that was just a one off forgotten order but I heard two women nearby say to the Assistant Manager that they had ordered salmon twice and it had never arrived.

Speaking of the Assistant Manager, she did a waste check just after 5pm only to leave all the wasted food sitting on a nearby counter for almost half an hour - perhaps all night, we'll never know, because we left half an hour after she had done the waste check.

These criticisms aside, there was a good choice of dishes on the belt, the staff were friendly and the young female member of staff with a mole on her nose (apologies for the manner of identification) was very conscientious with her approach to food hygiene - entering the kitchen area for only a matter of seconds but still putting a protective hair covering on.
A shame her Eastern European manager didn't do the same later when she entered the kitchen area for far longer, allowing her long her to flow around the food preparation area.

This may sound like quite a critical review, but to the contrary, there's not much the staff at YO! Sushi Brighton need to do to make it perfect. With help from investment from HQ, a bit of staff refresher training and this place will be great.

Far better than my visit to their Rupert Street, London outlet recently. Would recommend and return to YO! Sushi in Brighton.

Quick lunch stop! Very poor selection on the belt and mostly warm, we ordered miso soup twice and never arrived, the seats and counter top where wet and dirty. When we ordered hot food never arrived. Would recommend passing this yo sushi better options available. Very disappointing!!!!!

Having used many yo! Sushi restaurants in UK the standard is usually pretty high but not this time:
Poor selection on the belt,
They repeatedly sat people below a dripping pipe,
The didn't deliver one of the ordered hot dishes,
Hot dishes took a long time,
Also not drip trays under the water taps so people would get soaked.

Would not return.

I've been to different Yo! Sushi restaurants a good few times with my wife and we love it although the prices of the plates quickly mount up!

This time I was with a friend and we had a flying visit to this one purely because I fancied a quick sushi fix and this worked well.

Service for drinks wasn't spectacular but was ok and there was plenty of variety of things on the belt. My friend who'd never been to a Yo! Sushi enjoyed it so, overall it was success.

Me and my partner have recently started trying sushi - not something we dared to try before - and i have to say really love it. We're easing ourselves in and so were recommended by friends to eat here and mix and match and select what you want to try.
We had never been before to a yo! sushi restaurant and so weren't really sure of the general process of ordering. We were shown to our seats, given some menus and then pretty much left alone to figure it out - nothing was explained!! Through watching others eating and examining the menu we figured out the colour coordinated dishes within price brackets and that you essentially help yourself and pick it up off the conveyor belt as it goes past.
However, it was so hard sometimes to tell which dish was which just by looking and had to take a few off have a good look and then kind of put it back if it wasn't what we were looking for as nothing was labelled just coloured to represent the price. We ended up waiting for ages for the dish we wanted to go past and the staff weren't very helpful.
The food was good, it was very nice but we didn't get to try everything we wanted!
We ordered some hot dishes as well as these were made to order but when we asked for cutlery (wooden chopsticks weren't cutting it with noodles and to cut up chicken - sorry if we're amateurs!) they said they had none and we'd have to use these flat wooden chopstick-like things which i can only desribe as the wooden stick doctors used to stick in your throat and ask you to say ahhh.
We asked for the bill but was told we had to go and pay at a desk they couldn't bring it over, which ruins the restaurant atmosphere a bit, especially as there was very little service which i feel plays an important part in eating out. The food was good, but i would not return here again. Staff were unhelpful and seemed like they just could not be bothered. There are a few other sushi places in Brighton and i will be trying every single one before i consider going back here again.
