We were introduced to this restaurant by a family friend whilst travelling through the area. The restaurant is located in a picturesque little village and has outdoor and indoor seating available. On a sunny day, the outdoor seating is wonderful.

We chose the dish of the day; cod with garlic & mustard mash and chorizo. The combination was sublime!

The staff were helpful and friendly, which just adds to the charm of the place. Thoroughly recommended!

Whilst wandering around Alfriston spotted a sign which led us via a lane and through a pub garden to the tea garden of this restaurant. Ordered a quite expensive cream tea. For some reason best known to the staff our scones seemed to have been warmed in a microwave which made them horribly chewy and unpleasant and the cream was obviously out of a squirty tube and not proper clotted cream.
After we left and continued exploring Alfriston we realised there were many other places we could have had afternoon tea. If you visit Alfriston I suggest you try one of them instead.

Lovely meal, made with fresh local ingredients. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, offering us refuge from the rain before they were officially open.

Went in on a rainy April evening to be warmly greeted. Shame we were the only people there for most of our evening. It’s much nicer inside than I expected - not quite as twee as it looks from outside. Great place for a hearty stew. The chilli fishcakes were a bit dry and for my taste and could have been spiced up more, likewise with the spiced potatoes which were a bit a dry seemingly being dusted with garam masala.

Must be a good place to go for a bowl of soup on a cold winters evening with a roaring log fire. Would go again for an impulse, relaxed family chill.
